Violence returning to football - sickening

Yeah, these were only teenagers both the locals and Blackpool fan.
Probably the same lads I spotted. I noticed some Boro fans tired to get at the Blackpool fans but there were a lot of police present.

Not condoning the young lad getting attacked, he may have been completely innocent but there was a large number of them going out of their way to goad us as we passed by the coaches.

A lot of handy looking lads left the south stand on about 85 minutes straight to to Blackpool end, i was in the concourse as the time. Expected it to kick off worse than it did

It's common knowledge and if I could be bothered to check we will see that there is more violence now than 10-20 years ago.

Violence in football has always been a reflection of greater society, this isn't a contentious comment. Neither is the one above.

What next the rise in racism is nothing to do with government and doesn't exist????
You're absolutely correct with those points, areas of high social deprivation, very limited opportunities especially for younger people, a media heavily influenced by right wing politics spreading hate and divide. Its not exactly difficult to see that increases in racism/violence will result from this. Its certainly not the only cause but absolutely is a factor

Some of these people genuinely are pathetic. Imagine that being a grown mans reaction to their football team loosing

no one said it was brexit, wonder if @FatCat is going to return to the thread now that I've given him the stats he asked for, probably return with a pithy claim that he's bored with this rather than face up to the fact he was wrong again
I don’t know whether you’ve been on the beer I provided you with stats up to the present year that backed up my argument. I know you like to think you are right about everything but sadly it’s not borne out by the stats and backed up by the responses you have received.

mate, you asked me for stats, I gave you stats. Now you don't want to talk about them 🤷‍♂️

I’m sure he’s some sort of anti gvt bot- the amount of times he calls other posters stooges yet relentlessly spews out the same lines over and over again.
I just want this ***show held to account, you don't, strange stance to take and as for you liking some random throwing personal insults around....you've gone down in my estimation with that one. I also by the way wanted Labour held to account for their mistakes when they were in power, that's what the electorate shoudl do, this lot though fuqme they're ruining this country.

Do you honestly think this has nothing to do with politics?
As with any social subject, you can always argue a political influence to a subject.
Do I think that the UK government of the day significantly influences how these people behave? No I don’t, they are already that way inclined.

Football violence has never gone away since the 1970s and probably never will. The government has switched many times over those years without correlation.

I, probably like a few others on here, get sick to death of BoroMart et al constantly shoehorning their political points into every subject they can on this board. It’s tedious.

No one is just that way inclined though, all sorts of factors define how a person is. But huge levels of social and economic deprivation, low levels of opportunity are fairly proven to result in increased crime/violent crime etc and that is all influenced directly from government. It’s not any coincidence that you will see higher levels of footballing violence in poor working class areas which have been hit the hardest, and not in affluent areas for the likes of Fulham/Reading etc

You can’t really compare violence today to the 70s, CCTV, harsher sentences, banning orders are all significant deterrents that weren’t around in that era. You would be risking your entire future to get involved in anything these days.

I understand people don’t want or like to talk politics, but boromarts comments are completely valid. With the amount of deprivation, unemployment, lack of facilities and now even food shortages were experiencing, on top of living under years of restrictions the threat of widespread disorder and violence is never far away, and I don’t really see how that can be blamed on anything but the government.

I have to disagree JM14 i don't believe social deprivation has any influence whatsoever on football hooliganism. in fact i would say most of these hooligans are gainfully employed, and not at the bottom of the poverty scale. travelling to away games , purchasing tickets, designer gear as well coke its not cheap . Fulham and reading have no history of violence, but clubs like Chelsea do, and their fans are far from poverty stricken, and the innercity firms of the eighties weren't either. hooliganism to me is a completely separate entity to violent crime which i agree is linked to economic depravation and government polices.
