Violence returning to football - sickening

sadly these are not isolated incidents, there are still too many who think supporting your team and being vocal about it is a trigger for battle, why people cannot just accept that opposition fans feel for their team like they feel for theirs, and be civil about it I don't know
totally agree, it's absolutely baffling. But then it's not really about football, it's about people using football as a vehicle to let out their aggressive behavior.
The thing that gets me sometimes is the context of it - people kicking off and trying to start a fight when often surrounded by kids, women, older people etc etc.

I know the English get a bad press. I have to say the Italians are horrid f*ckers and use weapons. Apparently they were starting on people in Leicester yesterday afternoon. We saw when Boro went to Rome. They don't even attack other hooligans just anyone with a shirt on (usually not hooligans).
Exactly! For anybody who is interested about "ULTRAS" and their influence read "ULTRA" by Tobias Jones - scary stuff. Many of the groups are organised along political lines. No point in pointing the finger at right wing groups over there. The far left are equally as bad.

It's been easy to portray the English as the worst in europe but they really aren't.

I have no doubt the majority are on Gear (coke). Mix that with all day drinking and not only does it make you feel 'harder' but also increases the amount you can drink.

Throw in 10-15 of them on it and it's a recipe for disaster. I saw 3 empty baggies at Cov just sat in the urinal.

I read this morning that some Leicester fans have already canceled flights for the away game. I don't blame they as they have a right reputation. It's a sad state of affairs of you can't go and watch a team in Europe.

Pretty much why I'm reluctant to take my kids to away games these days. Being surrounded by coked up nuggets isn't really an environment I want them in.

Hi - these and thankfully still isolated incidents, as said above. Home and away games are still normally fine for anyone in the family. And we need to make sure that never changes.

Home games I agree - no issues. Away games I used to regularly see groups of lads in and out of the toilet cubicles. Had to be quite creative explaining that to the young'un once!

leicester couldnt have picked three locations to visit that will give them potential for a kicking.

their best option for a meal the night before a match will be in Warsaw, and that will come with a health warning.

Naples is best avoided as a tourist, never mind for a visiting football supporter.

they'll be best advised to not start a couple of verses of ' gawd save the kween' whilst on their 'european tour'- like they did last night.
Moscow is a huge city and its been quite a while since an English team has been there - likewise Warsaw.
I had a 12 month period living in Warsaw recently - its a great city to live in, but within a mile of the ground down by the Wisla on a matchday it can be a different story - especially if any significant numbers travel.

Undoubtedly there will be bother in Warsaw - because lots will go there, flights are easy from all over the UK.

I think its fine. Its easy to stay away from them..... Well unless you want a poo and need a cubical. It's must be like a tardiss seeing how many come out.

Only funny if you like Dr Who😂

brexit is a symptom of the libertarian brigade, just as football violence and wider society anti-sociality are also symptoms
So we’ve had football violence for as long as any of us can remember - we’ve had two or three notable cases in the lastcouple of weeks and that’s not only the gvt fault but a symptom of brexit as well now. By that reasoning presumably European countries don’t have football violence then?

Was only a few weeks ago Nice fans stormed the pitch against Marseille and a brawl broke out. Not sure what that says about current French society as they still remain a member of the EU.

You need to re-read what I typed and work on your comprehension, I said brexit and increased violence at football and anti-social problems in society are all symptoms of moving to the more extreme end of right wing politics. Stop misquoting me. Italy, Hungary - far right governments = football violence. Germany - moderate left less violence, go figure

I hope to God regular hooliganism isn't creeping back in. Wonderful to see the stadiums full of families now, and CCTV monitoring the games. Safer for decent people to attend games without cause for concern. That is why many 'firms' have chosen city centres to brawl but they can also be filmed there of course. The Everton v Millwall fighting when the fan got slashed with a knife was horrific viewing.

England fans abroad in the 80s and 90s were notorious as we know. It was so depressing after each England match to see the focus on the fighting fans rather than the football. The media loved to keep focusing on this in a voyeuristic way. Some Europeans teams began copying Englands hooligan fans tactics and have now probably 'toppled' them as the worst of the worst hooligans.

With the likes of the 'Boro Frontline and the other clubs organised mobs it was very well organised and more frequent back then. Now it seems more sporadic, thank God, and not to the same regularity as before. We need to keep it that way and clamp down heavily on those guilty to send out a clear message that it will not be tolerated as before.

Find a stadium that isn't owned by any football club (Pride Park)
Then lock them all inside and let them fight it out.
last man standing gets to fight the next lorry load of thugs.
They can smash themselves and the stadium to pieces.
They would love it.
And nothing of any real value to football will be damaged.
Problem solved.
