Top 5 worst gigs

I think over 95% of gigs I've been to I've enjoyed on one level or another and most I've thoroughly enjoyed. But after last nights Monkeys gig, it got me thinking about really bad gigs I've been to. So in no particular order, mine would be:

Bamyshambles (Reading)
Bob Dylan (Berlin)
Bob Dylan (Fleadh, London)
Cocteau Twins (Leeds)
Elbow (Leeds)

Was just discussing it with my lad and we struggled to find a list of ten each, so that can only be a good thing.

Don’t think I’ve come away from many gigs thinking it was ****. But Mull Historical Society in Nottingham one time when Colin should really have stayed in bed with his heavy cold probably fits this thread. Great band/person otherwise.

The coral were boring b***ds.

Oh, and Razorlight were F***ing ***** when I saw them but that’s a given.

The Lemonheads were crap at Truck.
Idlewild were also crap at Truck.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre were awful when I went to see them at a mini-festival at Margam Park, but I did get to see lots of cute baby frogs that day and that made it worth the trip.

Can’t think of many I’ve left early. Libertines was one, they were dreadful. Kings Of Leon in Newcastle last year was awful. Left a Courteeners gig too, dready lads lads lads *****. Left a We Tibetans local one.

Santana at Hammersmith Odeon (as then was) Hecklers shouting 'Play something we know'.

Supergrass, supporting Neil Young at the Hop Farm. Not so much bad as disappointing.

Maria Carey, dragged there by an ex. Just awful.

Been to many gigs of my own choice and struggling to remember a single one that I didn’t enjoy.

I did see Ian Brown doing a solo support slot to, I think, the Manics and he was dreadful, just couldn’t be bothered at all.

The Seahorses Middlesbrough Town Hall - late 90s maybe. Walked out midset - bl**dy awful. Support were class though - The Hybirds.

Didn’t he play gigs recently to a backing track?

You saw Dylan, thought it was terrible, so went to see him again?

Not including festivals and support slots.

Bob Dylan

Starsailor

Rolling Stones (the third time I saw them was poor)

Doherty (love him but one particular occasion was awful)

Beady Eye (big Oasis fan but they were crap)

Remember seeing Paul Weller 2000? ish. Just cracked through his set, mumbled a few "thanks" then off he went. Musically good, but on stage presence 0/10. Really disappointed.

Crowded house early 90’s without Tim, assume post Tim, they were off their t*ts and one of them had a broken arm or leg, can’t remember. They were awful. Saw them last year a week before they did the same set at Glastonbury, they were brilliant.

Oasis at Wembley not that long before they gave it up, truly bad, you knew it was the end.

Finally and maybe controversially, and I’m a fan, the Arctic Monkeys last night, worst ever is harsh, but it was dull.

Arctic Monkeys - Houston, absolute rubbish, managed the first half....around 2010 ish

Raul Malo - Houston, Christmas carols sung badly

America (my first ever band back in the day), hung on to see Crosby, Stills and Nash..........shouldn't have, they were both *****

Can't think of any gigs Ive tbought we're bad, only one I left early was Def Leppard at the O2 in about 2017 (ish, not sure)

Boring, which was a big surprise as they are an amazing album band whose music I really enjoy. The live show was just dead!

The Wonder Stuff at Leeds University, 1987. 45 minute set, slow acoustic versions of A Wish Away and Unbearable and no encore. Real disappointment.

Ian Brown supporting The Manics at Newcastle some time in the 90s (as referenced by @Brian Marwood)

The Thrills at The Cornerhouse in Middlesbrough in 2003. The lead guitarist was so drunk they had to swap him with the bassist mid set. The Zutons supported and blew the main act away.

Dashboard Confessional at The House of Blues, Chicago 2020. Chris Carrabba's voice was so far down in the mix that when everyone sang along it was just a karaoke show.

Can't think of a 5th bad one?
