Top 5 worst gigs

F***ing hated Arctic Monkeys at the Empire sometime in 2005, place was full of Indie d***heads and my mate was robbed (and also got a pint of **** flung over him)

Bob Dylan in Dublin last November, very dull.
Morrissey at Leeds arena just before lockdown, self-indulgent boorishness

The Seahorses Middlesbrough Town Hall - late 90s maybe. Walked out midset - bl**dy awful. Support were class though - The Hybirds.
The Seahorses were class!! It was one of my first ever gigs like.

Top 5 worst gigs?

Bob Dylan - Mumbling Fart
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Noodling VVank
Oasis - Kermit the Frog
Roxy Music - Poxy Music
Ian Brown - Frown Town

Ian Brown supporting The Manics at Newcastle some time in the 90s (as referenced by @Brian Marwood)
Must be the same tour where I saw him (in Brighton). The Manics were great, IB really wasn't. The actually key of the song didn't seem to affect his choice of notes in any way at all.

After his set he came onto the floor of the venue accompanied by a minder who was wider than IB was tall.

I was at that Dylan gig in London. Not the best but not the worst imo. Set list was decent but crowd didn't seem too receptive. Think it can go either way for him at festivals, dependent on expectations of the audience.

Best gig I've ever seen him do was at hop farm festival in Kent. Pretty much a greatest hits set (blind Willie McTell!) Him and the band sounding incredible.

Struggle to think of many bad ones. Arcade Fire at the Roundhouse was a struggle but that was more to do with them debuting their (decidedly average) fourth album.

Simple Minds, Gateshead Stadium 1991.
Truly disappointing.
The support, which was Roachford, OMD and The Stranglers were far better.
There was a weird atmosphere which only seemed to get worse for some reason when they played Belfast Child. Remember a lot of lads in Rangers shirts getting very anti.

Quintessence twice(god only knows why I went to the Town Hall to see the after seeing them at Weeley)

The Enid at the Coatham

Kraftwerk at Town Hall

Todd Rundgren Knebworth

Had some others but forgotten now so will edit later😭

Have been dragged to see Dylan a couple of times and it was game of name that song with his mumbling. Saw Weller with a mate at Whitley Bay and it was underwhelming.

Black Sabbath @ Newcastle City Hall May 1978. Supported but blown off stage by Van Halen.
Bjork at O2 Arena a couple of years ago.

But no question the worst was Hot House Flowers at Bexhill De La War Pavilion 2018.
An 18 minute version of Don't Go would have broken any ISIS terrorist.

1. Graham Bonnet at Fibbers York
2.Deep Purple at The O2 London
3. Rival Sons at Leeds Festival
4. Arctic Monkeys also at Leeds Festival
5. Def Leppard Download Festival

Style Council at the Royal Albert Hall ... very, very dull.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Hyde Park ... the entire audience around me was hammered, either vomiting or urinating it seemed. The queue for a beer token was around 0.5 miles. We left after about 45mins.

John Martyn at the Hammersmith Odeon ... very dull, although I was a young man. I'd probable appreciate it more now.

Siouxsie and the Banshees, Leeds Uni in 1978. They really shouldn't have been top of any bill at that stage, I think The Scream had literally just come out. Anyway she moaned throughout about how boring the crowd were, how she couldn't get anything from us, etc. etc. There was a brief pogo to Hong Kong Garden. There was no encore.

Wah! Heat in about 81, something like that. Pete Wylie was in full rock star mode and was swigging from a bottle of Jack Daniels throughout. I think he'd been drinking all day and he was ***ed and virtually incapable.

Last Autumn went to see Rosalie Cunningham at the Georgian. They turned up late. Very late. They kept the audience sweating in the bar while they endlessly sound checked. When they finally got on, they were making the set list up on the hoof, and it showed. Very disappointing.

Too many gigs spoilt by other audience members, but I guess that doesn't count.

Fratellis 2008ish Brixton Academy - dreadful.

Echo and the Bunnymen 2019 Gunnersbury festival. So so dull.

Radiohead Victoria Park 2009ish the first of two gigs. They played arguably all the good stuff in the second gig.

Reading 1999 Kevin Rowland. Bombed
