Top 5 worst gigs

Forgot to add Radiohead Glastonbury 2003 , loved there early stuff which they hardly played any . No doubting they are excellent musicians, but they had the stage presence of an asthmatic ant .

Huge Dylan fan but have to agree about his 2005 tour. I saw him at the Birmingham NEC and i had to check the setlist after to see what he played. Also saw him at Hyde Park (Neil Young joint headliner year) and he was much better.

Not really a fan of the artic monkeys but was at the 2005 gig at the empire which has got a mention on here and I thought it was class at the time.

I left a Bjork gig early at the O2 a few years ago - I don't think it was a particularly bad performance but I was just bored.

So, what I’m gleaning from this thread is Bob Dylan is awful live.
I've seen Dylan four times.....
Earls Court 1978 - Fantastic
Birmingham NEC 1981 - Dreadful, much too religious for my liking
Oslo Norwegian Wood Festival 1997ish, - Fantastic. Lou Reid, Van Morisson and Neil Finn were at the same weekend gig
Newcastle Arena 2006 ish - Dreadful again

Wolfsbane at the Town Hall crypt - just noise. Couldn't hear properly for 24 hours after. Early 90s

Alice Cooper at Newcastle Arena. So boring loads didn't stay for the encore. Sometime around 2006. Can't remember

1) Finley Quaye... Stockton ..
I believe in complete decriminalization of all drug laws .. but not whilst actively at work..
2) Arctic monkeys.. London o2 .. start to finish lounge meh nonsense
Cant think of anything thing else that I was actually annoyed at paying for , but tolerated some terrible performances from quite famous bands at lots of festivals

Must have been awesome to see VH in 78 with DLR? Not surprised they upstaged Sabbath. Runnin’ with the devil must have sounded fantastic in those days.

One other crap one - Primal Scream at Leeds O2 in about 2012 also. Weird atmosphere, loads of older people and younger people but all quite chippy.
For atypical_boro Same tour. I was at the City Hall as well to see a guitarist from a different planet and Diamond Dave could still sing.

I've had a lot of fun reading this thread tonight, I thought I'd get shot down for being negative and get a couple of answers. And while it is obviously a negative thread by default, it just shows how passionate we all are about live music. And while it's quite a long list, I think the overriding take is how rare bad performances/live experiences really are. They stand out because they're not the norm

I love a gig, me

The smiths 1984, Middlesbrough town hall, absolute rubbish, we walked out after about 20 minutes
20 minutes was probably over half the set, saw them at Lancaster around then. Morissey looked like he'd rather be anywhere else, flounced around with some daffs for 35 minutes and then off and away completely disinterested

Remembered one that I'd scrubbed from my mind - Antony and the Johnsons at the Sage, 2009. I'd seen him before, but (looking back) this was when he started unravelling. He kept stopping the set to do long monologues about Jesus being a woman or whatever. Someone actually shouted "get on with it", which just made him upset and do even more talking.

Another vote for Fleetwood Mac, Leeds Polytechnic c1972/73? Dreadful self indulgent, distanced nonsense. To be fair this was interregnum so to speak. This at a time when the University and Poly were putting on world class acts.

Blur at Sheffield Arena around 1997, no atmosphere, band went through the motions.

Oasis at Milton Keynes Bowl, 2007ish, boring.

Bill Callahan at Royal Festival Hall, I’d waited years to see him, it felt like it was the last place he wanted to be.

Alt J at the Alexandra Palace, sound quality was very poor. Saw them later at the O2 and they were great.

I’ve just remembered that I did go to a crap gig. The Waterboys doing an acoustic gig in Manchester. I love them and have seen them a few times but this was awful.
