PM admitted to hospital

I can't have very much sympathy for Johnson to be honest. He has largely brought this on himself. I have read multiple threads calling people in parks selfish, stupid. Someone said, as I recall they deserve to die.

Why is Johnson exempt from this contempt?

He is one man, we have people dying by the hundreds every day, some of which may have lived had this crisis been handled better.

I find it difficult to care one way or the other to be honest.

Having read this whole thread, I stand right behind Lefty.

No where has he wished any ill on anyone, he simply and quite rightly explained that "Actions have consequences".

Now going back to his first post and give your view on that without the other 4/5 posts explaining what he meant. Just no need to post that but Lefty is a intelligent gent and probably got the responses he wanted. Stand by my post it’s better sometimes to keep the mouth shut.

He's the Prime Minister, leading a cabinet with people like Gove in it who have signed up to wanting rid of the NHS and you don't want to make it about politics? Everything about it is political.
Plenty other posts you can politicise the governments response. I aren’t saying you can’t. Personally I don’t think post titled ‘pm admitted to hospital’ is the thread to do it

it certainly isn’t a thread where you need to bring Brexit into it

The fact is that there is no cure for this virus regardless of wealth or status as all the ventilator does is keeps you alive long enough but it’s your body that ultimately fights the virus and if your body can’t fight it then you die it’s that simple.

It’s just awful.

As above I hope he recovers soon as he did look dreadful the other day.

I hope he gets well soon and I wouldn’t wish the illness on anyone but my sympathy is tempered, not by the party he represents or his political ideology, but quite simply based on how he himself acted and flaunted the rules that he put in place, even some of the his closest allies in the press were critical of what they saw going on behind closed doors, his lack of social distancing, the unnecessary face to face meetings, continuing to shake hands, in the 36 hours between his first symptoms and being tested positive he held 11 face to face meetings and has put everyone who attended them at risk.

I can’t help but feel that Johnson’s hubris has contributed to his own illness and that he should have been more diligent in following his own guidelines, he may well have contracted the virus anyway but if other people had continued with the same culture of behave as the PM they too would have had the finger of irresponsibility pointed at them too.

I repeat I hope he makes a speedy recovery and my criticism is of his actions as a person and in no way relate to his politics. This post isn’t intended to offend and I wish strength to all those who are suffering or know someone who is suffering.

Stay safe.

Thanks American Mary for writing exactly what my thoughts are on this situation

It's all a bit emotional isn't it. I was going to say he is one of many thousands in that he also has the disease. He will ,however, get the best care possible in the safest surroundings possible. That's justified he's the PM.
He has been personally careless in ignoring the advice - you can't get away from that.

Let's be clear though - only months ago he was running a political campaign to get elected and many of us thought he was a lying, arrogant piece of shiit hiding from tough questions and conning the public.

And, for those saying he irreplaceable - I beg to differ.

As for the gallows humour. This crops up time and time again. Some think humour has few boundaries (Gervais et al - 'they are only jokes'). Some think its inapprorpriate.
What's the point getting upset with it - people have different views.

He isn't my cup of tea and he's not somebody I would vote for. But at the end of the day he is a human being with loved ones, it would be an absolute travesty if the very worst happens. Hope the fella pulls through.

I think he was saying Boris is an idiot, which likely led to him having it (which is probably a fair assumption), and that brexiteers and tory voters are idiots too, which is an opinion he's entitled to, and a lot will agree with.

Brexit doesn't play a part in how he caught the disease, but it plays a massive part in why a lot don't think he should be absolved of his actions. People voting leave is that's the reason loads of nurses have gone, and it's the reason we pi$$ed about not sorting ventilators with the rest or Europe, it's linked whether you like it or not, and it's going to put the death rate up. The time to support the nurses was in November, but the people didn't do that.

If the PM was Maggie thatcher instead of boris i would have wished her a very slow painful death. I dont agree with boris on a lot of things but dont wish ill of the guy.

In that case I wish Boris just a speedy painless death. Before I'm jumped on, not really.

I normally know this but given the recent re shuffle and the large number of new ministers appointed to the cabinet who would be next in line if Boris was unable to carry out his duties.

is it the chancellor ??
