PM admitted to hospital

No doubt those treating him have been given PPE many of their colleagues are still being denied, and lucky for him we have just had a donation of ventilators from China. Remember he said it was just a mild to moderate illness for the vast majority....we should take it on the chin....and build up a herd immunity

There is no need for “gallows humour” or someone like lefty doing other left wing posters who can seperate a killer virus from politics.

You have a poster like Spanish almost gleefully posting it would be brexiteers and northern Tory voters who would die. Wasn’t acceptable at the time and now it’s hit wouldn’t be seen as acceptable now.

Then you have an expectant father taken to hospital and all left can rant on about is Brexit etc. Not doing much for the right wing bad and left wing good argument.

People are dying. It shouldn’t be political and I said for day 1 some were making it that way. Step forward Lefty.

What offends me is your whole attitude. You seem a very immature man for someone I would say received a decent education. You proved it on the other board and now you are doing the same on here, you just don’t know when to shut up. Don’t just read my posts, others are saying the same.

Norman_Conquest....Lefty explained what he meant in the post above. Cannot see any issue with those comments. Hard to deny them really although I think he was isolating in his flat in No10 so presumably away from his girlfriend.

What about his quote of ‘arrogance of brexiteers,’ he hasn’t explained that one.

I sort of see why people might think this is a bit rough, but let's be honest here. How many of you have been absolutely railing on here against idiots gathering in public during this outbreak? Well that's precisely what the PM did, exactly the same as sections of the public who you've all been calling arrogant, stupid etc.

A month ago, when this was already an established threat, he said: "'I was at a hospital where there were a few coronavirus patients and I shook hands with everybody"

Timing is everything, but lefty is basically correct. I hope the PM does get better btw, he's a human being.

It shouldn’t be political? Why the f**k not!

The bad choices made are entirely political, both for the last 10 years and the last few months.

It is the same thought process and the same people behind the current fiasco as it is behind the brexit fiasco.

It’s not understanding that we have chosen to dispense with the best practice on how to reason and evaluate when it comes to making important decisions. At the end of the 20th century we had built on the works and thoughts of the greatest minds of centuries and arrived at some pretty sound principles. We understood that we are slave to emotions, that we are prone to bias, that making evidence based decisions and doing everything we can to eliminate biases is the right thing to do.

And then this century we have decided ideology trumps critical thinking, emotion over reason. Hell, those who brought you brexit even bragged that they relied on emotional arguments. Yet those who fell prey to their cunning and cleverness still can’t acknowledge that, but rewarded liars. These same people have carried on thinking they can do no wrong and that ignoring expert advice they don’t like in favour of expert advice they do, even if it is a minority or fringe opinion, must be fine because the people and privilege have conferred omnipotence on them.

As for those criticising my first post, I suggest you look at yourselves. Check whether you found you were triggered by the word Brexit. Did you think I wrote ‘I’m glad Johnson has the virus’, ‘I’m glad he’s getting worse’ or ‘I hope he dies and takes his pregnant girlfriend with him’, or even ‘serves him right’? I think you did. Go back and read it, then ask yourselves why you thought that? Is it possible you had an emotional response, possibly to me personally, which overrode your intellect so that you read into what I wrote what you wanted to write into it? The answer is it is definitely possible.

Pity. I’d never block you or anyone else. At some point over this lockdown I’ll hopefully get a chance to start a couple of threads on why we make the decisions we do and apply some agreed principles to brexit, at which point either I can show what I say is correct. Otherwise I’ll be wrong and you can take great pleasure in that and my subsequent apology to you all. All you need to do is show you applied good reasoning.
 
It would be a national tragedy If something happened to Boris. He is the countries leader and the country would descend into panic if he got seriously ill. Whether you like him or not you must see how he is a figure head for the virus, if he can show full recovery and come back to lead the country again, then it gives confidence to everyone.

I thought all of the petty politics bitching was left on the old site anyway, don’t be coming over and spoiling this one!
