Hartlepool Constituency Poll

Maybe they thought people would be seeing through the brexit **** show by now and not took into consideration the cultists
it comes down to if an MP will do what they say they are going to do.. or what their party is saying they want to do.
tories all sing from the same song sheet, no mater how destructive it may be to the people of this country. they lie and spin and lie until people want it.

far too many labour MPs held voters in utter contempt, they were under the delusion that people had voted for them personally and not the values of the party they represented.

amazing how many just totally dismissed their own parties members and manifesto!

Vote Green

That very attitude is what will lock Labour out of power for decades.

Instead of telling people they’re cultists or implying they’re thick, go and speak to them and try to win them over with policies that will materially make their lives better.

If they keep daring their voter base to go and vote for another party, don’t be surprised if that’s exactly what they do. Scotland have, Midlands have, Wales is in the process of.
labour has gone, they just can't see it yet.

At the 2019 General Election I think that people in the North East woke up to the fact that Labour has dominated for many years with little or nothing to show for it. We were the manufacturing, heavy engineering heartland of the UK, and that's all gone whilst under decades of local Labour administration for instance Baird couldn't, or wouldn't, save Redcar steel when Blair was PM. The Tories dominance has come about purely on the "I want change" vote as it couldn't be any worse, or can it, only time will tell? In truth this region has been thoroughly neglected since the end of WWII by all parties and taken for granted to secure Westminster seats so is it time for the Giant Hercules to be been reawakened?
You surely don't think things like bailing out a steel works are made at local level:oops:

Oh I have learnt its pointless trying to reason with brexiters. It's not my place to pander to them. Brexit will keep Labour out of power for years I have accepted that.
They have been herded by the richest to self harm , sadly it harms the rest of us too

When the Tories booted its MP's the opposition parties were in favour of forming a minority government, but not with Corbyn as it's leader.

When he refused, the rest pushed the election and fell into the Tory trap.

Yep that's right.

Stupid of them in hindsight eh. Or maybe it was all intentional and designed to fail. Surely obvious that Labour's leadership couldn't take the party in to a coalition government where Labour's 230 odd MPs were subservient to the 20 odd tory rebels put in charge.

Not hindsight entirely, it was fairly obvious that the Tories were putting forward legislation that they knew was bad and would lose, they were using those defeats to frame the narrative of the opposition parties/MP's being anti democtatic and to create voter apathy with the image of only the Tories wanting to get Brexit done.

That the Tories wanted an election should have been enough for the opposition parties to come together by any means necessary to form a unity government. The hindsight bit to that is the possibility of Covid delaying Brexit entirely and a cross party response to the pandemic.

Irrelevant now.

I might just be very naive on politics, but how on earth does an area with one of the highest rates of unemployment, social and economic deprivation and has felt the full force of austerity over the last decade possibly vote for more of the same? All during a pandemic which this government couldnt have possibly handled any worse. I understand the opposition isnt exactly up to much but this is still absolutely baffling to me.

Stupidity

🤷‍♂️ what can you say? It just goes to show that for the Lib Dems, Change UK, and a lot of Labour MPs it was more important that Corbyn not be allowed in to Downing Street, even temporarily, than it was to stop Brexit.

That was the case definitely, the two years of intense character assassination on Corbyn by the Tories only needed to work on a few MP's in the end.

The trouble is whilst the Tories have Boris at the helm they are a PR dream. If you're shaking your head at their popularity now, just wait till he announces a payrise of 2.1% for nurses and allows holidays to be taken abroad (probably just before the local elections).

I said earlier in the year that I thought Boris would stand down at some point this year as he had got Brexit done and the vaccine roll out has been a success, but I now feel he is genuinely enjoying being the PM and the way things are going I can see him carrying on for a nunber of years.

Who do you think will eventually pay the bill for what he has been doing these last 12 months or has he rewritten the economic rule book?

I suppose we have yet to see what happens after furlough runs out, which it surely will, otherwise there really is a magic money tree.
The same people who will eventually pay the bill for what has been happening these last three hundred years. Nobody.
So how did Cameron get Brown out on the back of cutting the deficit?

Why was Corbyn ridiculed for his spending plans?

Enough people bought into the lie that we had to reduce the deficit through austerity. It wasn't needed and it didn't work anyway.
But if the majority of people are happy to listen to lies to give them an excuse to vote Tory (because I don’t think they are all stupid) then the debate is over and we are doomed to dishonest government for the foreseeable future.

We had 10 years of austerity up to the 2019 election because the Tories said public spending has to be brought under control so we didn’t become a ‘basket case’ like Greece. The result was an 80 seat majority. Now Sunak has spent hundreds of billions in 12 months and because he is a Tory, that’s ok, it’s allowed, 49% in that hotbed of prosperity, Hartlepool, think it’s great.

What’s the point of anybody opposing if there is no longer any intelligent reasoning?
