Hartlepool Constituency Poll

So what do people In Hartlepool want in your opinion, other than Brexit, which is being offered by Johnson and co?

Ben Houchen for example has done an excellent job in communicating what the Tories are doing for the area in terms of investment, jobs, infrastructure, etc - lots of economic populism that you would expect to be coming from Labour.

Starmer has no populist message or policies, he’s an empty suit who offers nothing.

Is unemployment dropping in the area? Does Hartlepool still have the highest unemployment in England?

As I said on the thread the other day, Starmer has had a terrible first year as leader.

Anyone with any sense would be looking at the fact that 2017 was the first election since 1997 that Labour have gained seats and modelled themselves on that.
And in 2019 the red wall fell - in an election Corbyn could have held off
They also lost 3 of the 5 Teesside seats

It's got nothing to do with the labour leadership, it's the brexit cult.
If this was the Brexit cult they would have lost Hartlepool in 2019 when they went into the election promising a People's Vote, which is the only thing that could have reversed Brexit. This is down to the current leadership and the man he parachuted in.

Ironically it was the brexit party that stopped the tories from winning, many will vote tory now for no other reason than labour's stance on brexit, so yes the cult of brexit. Its above everything otherwise after the year we have had what sane person would vote for more of the same

How could he have done that? Boris announced wanting an early election, and the SNP and Lib Dems both said they were voting in favour. Even with the tories Boris booted out his party gone thats ~350 voting in favour of an election and Labour with ~230 seats pre election.

I’m not here to defend the government on substance, but they at least have the messaging.

I seem to remember other party leaders being keener to hold off the election than the then Labour leadership

Starmer's Labour Party is not working it's like watching the slowest car crash in history. Making out like all labour problems stem for core labour values is absolute madness. No one wants Lib Dems waving union jacks and making veiled homophobic/racist gestures.

You've remembered the reverse of the truth unfortunately!

To jog your memory, the Lib Dems at the time were lead by the delusional Jo Swinson who had already declared herself the winner of the next general election. Why would she have been against an election?

So if this is all as obvious as you say, why would Labour and Starmer parachute in a man who’s a staunch remainer as the party candidate?

It’s gross incompetence.

Politics is often about defining your political opponent, Paul Williams in this seat requires no effort to define on the doorstep - “A remainer who tried to overturn your once in a generational vote has now been parachuted into this seat by the man who as Shadow Brexit secretary did everything he could to reverse Brexit.

These people hold you and your views in contempt, are you really going to give them your vote?”

Surely no one is taking in these lies any more?

Speak to people. Whether it’s the airport or the free port he’s incredibly popular and his slick marketing on Facebook (with questionable funding not many know about) is getting his message out there.

When the Tories booted its MP's the opposition parties were in favour of forming a minority government, but not with Corbyn as it's leader.

When he refused, the rest pushed the election and fell into the Tory trap.

Maybe they thought people would be seeing through the brexit **** show by now and not took into consideration the cultists

As you can tell from some of the threads on here, a lot have not yet accepted that it is a ***show.

That very attitude is what will lock Labour out of power for decades.

Instead of telling people they’re cultists or implying they’re thick, go and speak to them and try to win them over with policies that will materially make their lives better.

If they keep daring their voter base to go and vote for another party, don’t be surprised if that’s exactly what they do. Scotland have, Midlands have, Wales is in the process of.
