Wigan in admin

I have posted lots before that Paul Cook is a fine manager. He will keep them up even with this 12 point deduction.
Playing in front of no fans wont phase Wigan - they don't anyway - and their post lockdown results indicate there is major fight in them.

Its all well and good people saying I hope they don't go down if it is to save us, but I'm sorry I do. I hope they can stay up too, but I am concerned about the future of our club first and foremost.

Totally agree. My first thought was a selfish reaction but that’s Cos I love my club. I feel for their fans and players and manager etc but if this keeps us up by hook or by crook I would absolutely be delighted.

In the long run, I hope the club sorts itself out as it’s a decent little club Wigan

Really feel for Wigan, as many have said a decent club that won the FA Cup against all the odds only 7 years ago.

Agree with Erimus that it stinks that Derby and Wednesday are still waiting for their punishment, when, it would appear from the outside they have deliberately tried to flout the rules (similar to Man City) and really look like they are going to get away with it!!!

Stinks that the EFL are quick to jump to a points reduction especially during the current climate but the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County will more than likely yet again get away with murder.

The whole organisation is corrupt from top to bottom.

They’re good enough to get the requisite points . If you think about it if you were in their dressing room you’d roll your sleeves up and run your b*****ks off

Its like when a player conceeds a penalty and then is also sent off - a double whammy. Going itno administration is punishment enough I would think!

It sounds from what I read that the promised money just never arrived - very odd,.

It's to prevent clubs from going into administration just to wipe out their debts and start over.

Wonder if there’s been handsome envelopes passed over 🤔

Yes I recall you posting about him before, he's certainly done well of alte, I have more time for the Cooks, Warnock, Dych of this world than a manager who can buy any player they wish

This is all assuming they are able to continue and actually finish the season?

If they aren't able to complete fixtures do they expunge all points gained against them?
If so we would lose 4 points. That would shake things up a bit:unsure:

Blimey stop it ! Aaaargh

The Football League ruling on Wigan says that 12 points will be deducted at the end of this season if Wigan are not in the bottom 3 positions after 46 games.
If Wigan are in the bottom 3 positions and set to be relegated , then the 12 points will come off next season.

They could have added that if Middlesbrough FC default , then the deduction will be 24 points.

Surely that would penalise other teams not just Wigan, taking points off teams who have won them within the rules of the game & could relegated a team that is safe
