Wigan in admin

Exactly. But of course in those days football wasn't big business as it is now with the need to attract overseas investment etc etc. If the clubs were made to do what we achieved few would invest.
But isn't that what the FA want, only fit and proper people taking over clubs

If there games ended up being void if they were unable to complete the season that would hit us really hard compared to some others, the league would currently look like this

Charlton.... 46
Hull.............41
H’field.........41
Stoke..........40
Boro...........40
Barnsley.....40
Luton..........36

Presumably only the bottom 2 relegated scarier than with them being ok

Is it just me who can't see the logic of making the deduction at the end of the season? Why not just take off 12 points now?
It's to stop clubs going into administration and taking the punishment when it isn't really a penalty, I think brought in when one club went into administration in injury time when they were as good as down (might have been Leeds?). As others have said though, Wigan must be in a bad way, otherwise they would have waited until they were mathematically safe?

Wigan might not have had any choice about when they went into administration. If some big creditor - usually HMRC or a bank - decides it's waited long enough, it can force the issue.

Just looked at the league table & didn't realise how well Wigan have done to be where they are, midtable safety

Wigan are top of current form tables for last 6, 8, 10 or 12 games. Basically the best team in the league ATM!

Talking of current form, Birmingham seem pretty garbage right now.

What if they finish 13 points above 3rd bottom, surely the point deduction will not be brought in, or have I got it wrong

I guess if they lost every single remaining game and all the teams below them won theirs they could be relegated and then lose 12 points next season but it seems unlikely!

If they finish safe then the points will be carried over to the following season

I think the best way to look at it is that Wigan are currently on 38 points. No way are they going to be bottom three otherwise now, so the 12 points will count. Then it's just whether they can get back above three others....
