Wigan in admin

Is it just me who can't see the logic of making the deduction at the end of the season? Why not just take off 12 points now?
Agree so everybody sees where they are and what they need . Brutal but practical . Like erimus says they soon clobbered us with no support off anybody

I don't think it's anymore brutal than what they're planning to do - they'll still get punished, just in a month's time rather than now (unless there is an appeals process?)

Pretty sure I must be missing something - just seems odd.

The mystery around derby is incredible how they are still media darlings despite their ongoing shenanigans, Unless Wayne is playing for free that is.

It's to prevent clubs from going into administration just to wipe out their debts and start over.

It's not really. Wiping out the debts would be liquidation. Administration is just protection from creditors while you reorganise the business and seek finance to keep it going. If Wigan can't find any new money then it may end up in the club being liquidated, but as things stand, they can continue to trade at least for a while.

Erm yes a chap called Rooney . Makes you wonder why they bent over backwards to get him in😡

This is all assuming they are able to continue and actually finish the season?

If they aren't able to complete fixtures do they expunge all points gained against them?
If so we would lose 4 points. That would shake things up a bit:unsure:

It would also lose Luton 4 points, Stoke 3 points, Hull and Barnsley 1 point.
Stoke, Hull, Charlton and Barnsley would also have 1 less game to play.

I don't think that will happen though.

because if they get relegated anyway it would not be a punishment

Thats right. It is supposed to be a deterrent. If a club is jn a hopeless poistion the last thing the EFL want is to encourage a team to go into administration to get their points punishment out of the way - so they brought in this rule. Makes perfect sense.

Point is going into administration hurts the Clubs creditors and their interests also have to be protected.

Wasn't there something mentioned on this before how the points remain the same, but teams left to play them get the reverse fixture result.

I might have made that up.

If it can happen to Wigan I’m astonished first , second and 3 national teams havent buckled yet . Hope I’m wrong but it is concerning

I can't see that being the case, wouldn't be fair.

When Bury were expelled, all results against them were voided.

Are you saying they shouldnt get any punishment for mismanaging finances?
No I was refering to a previous post who stated they may take points off other teams if they fail to complete their fixtures

No if the rules state they will lose 12 points then that is the case

What happened to the rule that said clubs had to pay 100% of all debts or they wouldn't be allowed back into the league.
Or was that a rule just for Middlesbrough
Exactly. But of course in those days football wasn't big business as it is now with the need to attract overseas investment etc etc. If the clubs were made to do what we achieved few would invest.
