The deduction will apply to this seasons table if they avoid finishing in the bottom 3. If they finish in the bottom 3 without the deduction the deduction will apply next season. That’s them down in my opinion.

How do they play this now, go fighting hoping to get 12 points clear of 3rd bottom team, or just give up & when playing teams below us giving them an easier opportunity to gain 3 valuable points

Their fixtures aren't too bad neither.

After Saturday against Brentford, they play QPR, Barnsley, Hull then charlton, before the last game against Fulham - who could be resting players depending on whether they finish in the play offs

They're the form team - surely they're going to aim for safety.
They certainly are & hope they continue, I'm just looking at it from another angle that the players coukd say after the run we've had the club will go down regardless, defeatist I know but you don't know what'll go through their minds

I think this is likely

They are going to need to win at least three out of the final six to have any chance of staying up now.

If it had been the case in 86 there would have been no Bradford playoffs, no Everton cup matches that feature proudly in our history, no second consecutive promotions

Though we're up in arms regarding 86 & 97 we''re thankful we didn't suffer the same fate as teams that later were deducted 12 points & that unforgettable period in our history is proudly etched in our history books

I think clubs going into Administration should be closely assessed as to why. If the pandemic has pushed them over the edge then leniency should be applied. I am sure common sense and fairness will be applied on this one. We need to understand the reasons. Terrible for their fans
Common sense and fairness? I wouldn’t bet on it.

So for clarification, if they finish outside the bottom 3 and the subsequent 12 point deduction is made they will then drop into the bottom 3 and be relegated? So they need to finish 13 points ahead of the third bottom club?

Yes, which on form they could, they are 5 points clear at the moment, I think

I also think 12 will do as they'll have a far better GD than the teams around them

Does anyone know if there any significance of this being announced on 1st July. If it had been announced before would it have had any impact on their ability to extend players out of contract for the extra month ie can a team in administration sign new players or extend contracts?
