Why would you not take a vaccination?

I think the speed at which they were developed is at the root of a lot of doubt. We are so used to the linear development process that some can't grasp the way multiple stages of the development have ran in parallel in order to shorten the time.
Add in that a lot of people either live in a media bubble or they get their 'news' from others on social media and you get vaccine reticence.
I know that in the US, Tucker Carlson on Fox is often 'just asking questions' about vaccines when it is clearly agenda driven and nothing to do with him not knowing the details or answers.

That's the thing. I was massively concerned about the speed of development and, more importantly the speed they got emergency use authorisation. As time goes on I get less and less worried about this. We are essentially apart of the largest scale clinical trail ever. I would say at this moment it looks like vaccines are the only way out of the darkness.

I’m not allowed to get the vaccine due to having a severe allergy

I can imagine a surprising amount of people will be in the same boat as me

Is that the answer to a covid passport? Show them my Epipen?

I caught something on the radio earlier about a proposal for doubles vaxxed people being allowed to return from amber list countries without having to quarantine. That's great and all, but even if you are double vaxxed isn't there still a risk that you can still carry and spread it? I may have misheard it, but if that is the case then why does it make a difference whether you have had the vaccine or not?

I've had both of mine.i have heard people say it's because we dont know what the long term effects are which is a fair comment.

It reduces the chance of you catching it and reduces the chance of you transmitting it.

That’s really bad news. I’m sorry to hear you’re in that trap. Are all the approved vaccines off limit for you?

It is what it is mate!!!

Most of my life has had restrictions because of it but it doesn’t really bother me

As far as I’m aware the NHS have advised not to get any, so unless the advice changes I’m playing it safe

Thank you for sharing on here Raul. It might make some understand that not everybody who doesn't want the vaccine may have very good reasons not to. It's not as black and white as they make out. Got my second jab at the beginning of August.

This.
People don’t seem to grasp the fact normal vaccines take years to hit the matket due to red tape ie applying for funding, waiting for decisions etc.
Every barrier has been removed so would hold up development.
They have undergone massive 3 phase trials. Now its gathering data until 2023 when they will be approved without an emergency use measures.

This is all true, I can see why it would make some nervous though. There isn't another developed vaccine to compare with so the speed of development is uncomparable. Some folks will worry that steps were skipped. Not sure it should make you nervous enough to not be vaccinated against a very bad virus. Balance of risk. If I was 18 I might have a slightly different outlook.

I'm not taking it. Mid 30's, no underlying conditions, fit and healthy, exercise adn eat well, look after myself. Never taken a flu vaccine, prefer not to take vaccines. Risk of me catching Covid and then being very ill is very minimal, no proven evidence (as far as I know - correct me if wrong) that taking the vaccine means you can't pass it on, I work with 2 people that have had either 1 or 2 doses and still relatively recently caught it and gave it to other people. As others mentioned above, I'm very sceptical/anxious at the way this has been rushed through, I'd prefer not to inject myself without something still quite 'unknown' unless it felt absolutely the best option, and I don't.

As others have mentioned, I'm also sceptical of the government and the way this has been handled, and I'm also sceptical of the blanket ban on open discussion on the advantages/disadvantages across the news and social media on the covid situation and the vaccine.

I think a lot of other people have a similar opinion but have been persuaded by the carrot dangling/black mail of potentially not being able to travel/see friends/work in particular jobs/ go to events or football matches without the vaccine. Being effectively coerced into your decision making by the promise/threat of things you can/cannot do is not going to change my mind, I'll do what I think is right for me and deal with the consequences.

Well done for answering. I don't agree with your assessment but I absolutely respect your right to make your own decision. Again we'll done.

Spot on

I haven’t read much about it, but haven’t all the scientists with any credibility stated that any adverse reactions happen soon instead of years later. And that being based on all of the previous vaccines.

I don’t think there is any history of vaccines laying dormant in people then causing them harm years later.
Good point apart from no one knows what will happen with mRNA waxxines long term with it being the new kid on the block - someone will come along in a minute and deny that of course
