Why would you not take a vaccination?

Former neighbours and a couple we befriended when we first moved here were at loggerheads over the vaccine, she wanted it and was duly vaccinated when her turn came, he did not saying it was his choice not the governments as to whether he took it or not.

He took ill early last week and passed a few days ago. She and the family are naturally devastated, a tragedy that could probably have been avoided if he had taken it, it seems a very selfish attitude.

Obviously very sorry to hear that, incredibly sad news. Was his passing covid related and did he have underlying symptoms and what was his age? I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

It was Covid related - he was 68 but quite fit for his age with no outward signs of ill health - as a builder he remained on the tools till his retirement at 65. He and his wife were looking towards a couple of holidays next year to look at a potential move abroad. A real shame.

One wonders if people have been put off by potential side effects that have been reported? Perfectly natural human response.

I had my second jab on Thursday and after about an hour when I was back home I had the feeling of dizzyness for the rest of the day. I was sound the next day. Maybes the government or the NHS should release a video campaign about the potential side effects of taking the vaccine and put people's minds at ease.

and it’s these people who keep pushing back our ability to remove restrictions or travel abroad
But the efficacy just isn’t there to back that up and a massive leap of faith has been offered to the medical community but people have died as a result
I wish I hadn’t taken it now, I really do.
The propaganda to shut down any narrative challenging the efficacy is a disgrace

People have their reasons but my B in L works on a covid ward and says that the vast majority of people they are admitting are those who have not had a vaccine.

There are many more vaccinated people in hospital than unvaccinated, but that is largely because the vast majority of people have been vaccinated, its a bigger pool.

I don't know the science behind this but my major worry is that herd immunity may be difficult to achieve if people still catch and transmit covid even when vaccinated. I don't see how he's immunity can be achieved

In July Patrick Vallance said that 60% of people in hospital were unvaccinated. Are you saying that has turned around considerably in a few weeks?

Are such stats published anywhere?

I’ve not yet heard a coherent argument. Am I missing something?
To be fair a decent chunk of them think the Democrat party eat children, the earth is flat and John F Kennedy is still alive and is doing God's work through Trump.

Coherent arguments aren't what they are interested in.

I know someone who won’t take it because she thinks it will modify her DNA.

People who think the vaccine will modify their genetic make up should welcome the opportunity.

Yes I read an Article about 4 weeks ago that gave the numbers, I'll try and find it again and link it

Eventually, the vast majority in hospital will be vaccinated, and that is to be expected.

Far from being indicative of a failing vaccine, it’s actually the opposite -

Bill Gates / 5G / magnetic arms / George Soros / The Elite / Fauci?

I dunno, Atlantis? The pyramids?
It's this, broadly at least.

Conspiracy theories are embedded in society now, not just here but globally.

This creates a fear factor amongst us and some people find it impossible to know what is true and what are falsehoods.

The result is that a great many people end up being generally cynical and sceptical.

Closer to home it probably wont help that BJ and his lot are less than trustworthy too.

So there is some misinformation on the Internet around this. Vallance originally said that 60% of hospital admissions were amongst the fully vaccinated, this was on German TV. He later retracted that statement as a mistake amending his statement to 40% of hospital admissions are fully vaccinated.

This was on the 17th of July. I can't find the original article but it could have been based on the quote from Vallance.

At the beginning of July this article has a good graph showing the breakdown of vaccinated, partially vaccinated and unvaccinated positive cases. The correlation between a positive test and hospitalizations is a bit close for my liking, but clearly you are much less likely to catch covid once vaccinated, as you would expect.

I don't think it's this at all. The youngsters I speak to have largely been vaccinated but didn't see the point in doing so. The ones who are still not vaccinated just don't see the point.

Yeah there are people talking conspiracy crap up but I suspect they are a tiny minority.

This board demography is middle aged men. I can understand why a 20 year old isn't very worried about Covid.

Good to note that my opinion is based on personal experience but my opinion is supported by the WHO who have done extensive research on this subject.

Conspiracy nuts don't even factor into the reasons given.
