Watmore AND Akpom leaving

In the after match pressers when describing Watmore, Wilder never really praised his attacking ability. He always said stuff like he came on and ran about as he does. If the rumour is true though then to have 4 or 5 genuine strikers, all of whom this manager has given the green light to then it is exciting. I would like Gyorkeres to be one of them, but if Coventry dont need to sell then can’t see it.
 
I really appreciate Watmore, came in on a free transfer and ran his nuts off for us, lacking a bit in quality but he showed the rest of our strikers up in terms of work rate.

I always thought he would be the 4th striker this season but if we think we can do even better then it makes total sense. 4 new strikers plus Coburn would be a great look for us.

Wilder has mentioned injuries a lot since he joined, don’t think he likes that Watmore can only do 60-70 minutes and always has the potential to get done by an injury. Probably wants someone more reliable.
 
Watmore has been decent for us - if he’s going we need plenty of options up front to replace him i.e. three more strikers
 
Watmore has been superb for us. I would honestly gate to see him get injured in a boro shirt. If he does move I’d want it to be right for him and for him to continue playing At a high level. His contract is out next summer.. currently 28yo

4 year deal with NY Red Bulls?
 
I'd be very sorry to loose Watmore's pace, energy and ability to create chaos running at opposition defenses.

I think he has been our best striker, even if he's not a 9.
 
What is this love affair with the coventry striker, really hope we get him, I would be excited if this happens etc, Whilst I am not saying he is not a good player he has had one good season in the championship, so IMO anything over 6/7 million which is still a lot and we shouldnt be entertaining it.

Piroe & obafemi bought by swansea 3m for both scored over 30 goals between them, watkins, pukki, maupay all bought for small fees scored bags in the right team in the championship, we need to buy clever in the same way we brought in crooks, take his goals and assists away, plus link up play for Isaih jones assists and where would we have been last year then.
 
What is the love affair with Watmore?

He's enthusiastic, runs around a lot, but dear God he's a limited footballer. Can't do a whole game, terrible finisher (see the Fulham game for his ability to pick out row Z), runs down blind alleys, no understanding with his strike partners.

If some club is prepared to pay folding money then ship him out.

I do have a picture from the gazette of Hendrie scoring the last goal at AP in the downstairs toilet. It's the only Boro memorabilia I'm allowed on display. I do feel slightly bad that his limited edition print is on the toilet wall lol.

Hendrie was great at a dribble so I don’t think he’d mind!
 
If these two are going it must surely mean at least two more coming in as replacements. I’d be ok with that, as long as one of them has a proven goal scoring record at this level i.e. someone like Adam Armstrong or Riis Jakobson.
Forrs Coburn Muniz and Armstrong/Jakobson would be a formidable strike force to call upon and they’d all get plenty of game time with Wilder’s penchant for rotation
