Gyokeres was class last season. Yet I really don't think we should pay 10mil+ for him. He'd want a 4 year deal and no doubt in excess of 30k a week.
We simply can't invest that kinda money on one player. If he turns out to be a dud then we are lumbered with him. He has only had one good season. Just like Waghorn and Emerton Diaz etc.
What we need to do is find a 'Gyokeres' when he's the 1. 5mil that Coventry paid. They clearly spotted him early. I think he had a loan first.
I'm pretty sure it's irrelevant and also not sure why he gets mentioned so much. He is almost certainly the player Wilder said we were quoted 25mil for (I can't think of anyone else?). Whist I get they would probably sell for 15 it's still pie in the sky money for a champo side.

I think he would be a great fit. The way I see it though is if there is no premier league club in for him his value is no where near 10m-15m as that money could only be spent by a championship club with parachute payments. If they dont want him and Coventry want to sell their figure has to drop. We need to add so many players that even with the Spence and Tav money I would have thought the most we would offer would be 6-7m.

I think a deal for gyokeres now might be about £5m more than it will be in 3 weeks time .
But I’d expect our strikers to be already sorted with prem clubs now and we’re just waiting for their clubs to replace them .

Yes, and I saw lots of other players which were good too but it doesn't mean to say we should sign them. As the other poster said we need to find a "'Gyokeres' when he's the 1.5mil that Coventry paid" and that's what this recruitment overhaul was supposed to do. There is no way we should be paying over £8M on one player. It would be reckless.

Decent strikers and we would have won yesterday. I doubt WBA would have come back from 2 down. Much as I like Watmore if his pace is negated he offers very little.
Akpom made one crucial contribution to the game. A fine pass for the goal. The rest of his time on the pitch? Fairly anonymous.

Wilder mentioned "Dunc on one leg" yesterday, so there are obviously issues there at the moment, but I think fans need to remember the contributions he's made: the solo goals, the running at defenders, the defending from the front. He's not a guaranteed starter, no, but he's well worth a place in the squad imo. Akpom, yeah, he poked it randomly across for the goal and looked busy again, but there's nothing in his whole career to suggest he's in any way the answer.
