Watmore AND Akpom leaving

What a professional Watmore has been since he came to the club, I'll be sorry to see him go & wish him the very best, whoever his next team is

Yet a player who has had more than his share of injuries yet he never gave up, his running & harassing at opponents, like a dog chssing a crisp packet down the road, each & every game adhered himself to all the Boro fans

Good luck lad 👍

To be honest, if we were to let him go then I don't think it would be a bad thing, as it would surely mean we're aiming higher and have high confidence of a replacement. That would make the number of strikers coming in, to need to be 3 or above though, which is a tall order, especially to get 2/3 of them firing this season.

Watmore was only getting a goal every 280 minutes last year mind, which isn't all that great. He does offer a massive work rate/ press though, so can understand him not scoring as much as a poacher.

I'm starting to wonder if Armstrong or Muniz could be a permanent deal?
I personally hope not with either just now.
Soton will want a lot for a player they bought less than a year ago for £16m. I personally don't think he is worth buying. A loan fine.
Fulham will want a lot for Muniz and I think that would be a massive gamble.

Go larger for Gyokeres and borrow the other two.

He's been ok, but he isn't the answer to our forward problems.

Every time I think of our forward line for next year Forss, Muniz, Armstrong, Gyokeres, Coburn etc I add Watmore because he's here but if he was a free agent now he isn't someone I'd be wishing the club brought in. He's done okay, but hasn't been great even when we had Sporar, Balogun etc he was only ever on par with them really but he got praise because he ran around a bit when the others didn't, and he seems a nice bloke who gets on well with the squad.

He'll probably go back to Sunderland, makes sense. Hope he does alright for them, not great, but alright.

I really like Watmore, and he's a cult figure for his solid work for us, but it doesn't surprise me, in fact I mentioned he might be sold a few weeks ago when there were talks of Wilder saying there might be some surprise sales, him and McNair were the ones I thought about.

Watmore is a 60 min player, totally honest, scores a few goals but he's not prolfic enough, not consistent enough, and lacks the physicality needed. If he goes, I will always have an eye on what he is upto, he's a good pro and very likeable guy.
Scores more than Tav. One is considered not good enough while the other is vital. What’s that all about?

It would be ridiculous and poor business to sell Watmore and replace him with a loan signing. I’m glad it’s come from Graeme Bailey as he’s hardly the most reliable source.

Maybe the signings of Forss and Maybe Hoppe are replacing Watmore and then we have Coburn tied down and then bulking up rest of forward line with either a big signing or some very good Prem loans

That poster will try anything to post Wilder in a bad light. He’s made it clear from the outset he doesn’t like him. It is a nonsense to suggest Watmore was “pushed aside” for Connolly last season.
Connolly joined and started most games for the first couple of months thats an indisputable fact. It now comes to light that Connolly not only wasn't match fit he wasn't mentally right either by his own admission. There's no agenda there pal, Connolly should not have got the game time he got last season certainly not at the expense of a true professional like Watmore. Wilder put himself in a bad light by continuously picking the lamentable waste of space aka Arron Connolly not me.

Maybe. I don't know much about Hoppe, in fact I hadn't heard of him until yesterday, but he will have to be some player to replace Watmore. Certainly in terms of application and effort. Seems a risk not worth taking in my opinion. Watmore guarantees 100% effort and seems to be a great character around the squad. I just don't get it, unless he's asked out go, which I can't see.

I suppose if his contract is up in a year it would not make much difference. As you say though, it may be Bailey adding 2+2 and coming up with this.

My brother has just told me that Sky this pm were saying Fulham will not loan Muniz - they want a sale.

True, but maybe we want players capable playing of 90 minutes and players who are part of Wilders plans going forward.

I will be relatively happy either way, because we know what we will get from Watmore if he stays and if he leaves then you have got to think it’s because we are replacing him with better.

Good luck to both Watmore a d Akpom if they are to leave but if they are in the squad or starting on Saturday, I will give my full support and hope they go out on high scoring a couple to beat the baggies.

Unfortunately football evolves we have to sell our best players to build a better team and weaker/lesser players will also be aloud to leave to help improve the team.

If players dont want to be here we move them on and bring in players who by into the area and managers ambition.

I don't think any of the strikers from last season bar Coburn were safe from being sold.

He runs around a lot but he's not very prolific.
