Latest Kantar poll - Tories 13 points ahead

It'll all close up when it comes to the next election. So many slings and arrows to use against the Tories. Corruption, theft of public money for their mates, pushing against our civil rights, failed economy, failed brexit implementation, food shortages, failed international relations, failure in afghanistan withdrawl, failure to release russia report, failure to hold russia accountable for terrorism on british soil, failure to handle the pandemic, failure in releasing infected into care homes, etc. etc. The build up to the next election will be political Armageddon as storm after storm after storm is thrown at this government. They'll be constantly fighting to defend the indefensible. It'll still probably be a hung parliament but with the tories excluded.

Also Mart, there is some legislation on media coverage, can't remember what its called but it is designed to give fair coverage before an election. Starmer really should get stuck in to the tories record in government at the next election.

Purdah, though it's debatable on how fair is fair.

What's interesting there Chris is the 4% reduction in the Tory vote is to the benefit of Labour and The Green Party equally.

Yeah, points towards a progressive alliance potentially.

The other take away from this is the fracturing of the Tory 40%ers. They desperately need that to hold if they are to win an election.

In a perverse way it might be better if the Tories didn't have the motivation to get rid of Johnson before the next election?

I'm sure there is a plan in Central Office to allow Johnson to become the scape goat for all their sins during this period and point to a new more "trustworthy" option against whichever Communist/Incompetent/Traitor/Hypocrite (select slander to use against Labour leader they are facing as appropriate). Ramp up the fear of rampant Communism/Socialism criticise the way they walk/eat/dress, document how they will leave the country unprotected unless they commit to billions on nukes, etc. You know how the playbook works. And set the Press Barons to do their dirty work in cahoots with some Russian money and/or hackers and hey presto another five years...

I'm not so sure the Tories would care about winning the next election, they've achieved their goals. Brexit is done (from their point of view), them and their mates are richer and would mean they don't need to own their own mess.

I'm not sure that this government will abide by those laws. They're of the ilk to break the law and ask for forgiveness (from their friends they've installed in the positions to prosecute them)
