Good night

How are you doing today @Aet290204 ? The weather is glorious up here in Great Ayton today, the sun is out but it isn't sweltering hot.

Any chance you can get out for a walk on the countryside today, sack work off for the day?

I’m not working at all. I’m signed off. I’m unable to concentrate for any length of time, I find working from home difficult anyway because of the isolation, and it was stressing me out. I do need to talk to the doctors to get a sick note at some point. Which will be more stress since I hate dealing with my awful GP surgery.

I may go for a walk later but I’m now finding walking exhausting. Tried to go for a walk last night but could barely manage 3k steps (am used to doing nearer 10- 15k)

i take the points about yoga and I’ve never considered it before but right now I’m too stressed and anxious about having to do physio exercises to try something new. Guess I’ll have to try now an England rugby legend has told me to..!!

So I hope everyone is OK.

I am finding good days and bad days at the moment. And the bad seem to outweigh the good. I’m struggling to do the physio exercises I’ve been given which is making me frustrated and angry. I’m not working so I’m bored. No one from work and none of my friends are keeping in contact. I suspect because I’m ill they don’t want to bother me. It’s a good job I’m staying at my mothers or I’d be completely lonely.

I’m fed up with the constant pressure in my head. I don’t want to do anything. I can’t stand people around me being loud, shouting, dogs barking. Does my head in.

I’ve been going out walking when the weather allows and I’ve done some long walks, I watched some of the Olympics but I really haven’t been able to get into it. Couldn’t sleep last night and so found myself death scrolling this forum until 4am.

Been over at my house today watching Soccer Saturday and again it was just a noise in the corner of the room. I’ve no idea who won drew or lost. Like I say no interest in anything. Supposed to be going to a birthday party tomorrow but I can’t bring myself to go. Which has caused trouble in the family.

What on earth do you do. I really don’t understand what this horrible illness has done to me and can’t see any way out. I honestly think I’d be better off dead.

I'm sorry to hear this Aet - and I'm unsure what to write/suggest. I can identify with "I don’t want to do anything" - I get (suffer from?) a terrible mental inertia from time to time and although I sometimes just have to 'sit it out' I'm lucky in that my usual recourse is to play the piano or sing (however badly - it doesn't matter). I wish I could say something more helpful to you.

Nice one Randy 👍

Love Great Ayton, would always take the kids there, me & cycling mate will go there for a pause then cycle elsewhere, looking forward to taking the grandaughter there to sit on the grass, paddle in the stream

I’m not working so I’m bored.

I take it that you don't have any dependents ie wife & kids, or a pet?

Having things around you to care for will help you care for yourself :) A pet, or even houseplants or a garden, might help.

When I'm bored I just go down the allotment and look after my pumpkin & veg. There's always something to be done. Time flies when I'm down there. Even if I'm just sat in the shed reading this board(y)

Just a suggestion like :)

No dependants. Should maybe get a dog. I have a tiny garden with some pot plants.

What part of Cambridge do you live in? I regularly visit Hemingford Abbots and wound willing to meet up for a coffee.

Gosh. There’s a coincidence. I’ve just persuaded someone to take me out for a car ride just to get out and we ended up down the river in hemingford. I’m in Ramsey.

What a great board this is, posters looking out for others who are less fortunate, or struggling, that's how it should be

Yes this board is an immense source of help. I do appreciate everything and everyone taking the time to reply and I’m sorry I’m sounding like a broken record.

I don't have any words to say in response to that aet.
Genuinely sorry to hear you are still having a bad time.

I hope Boro can give you some respite (even happiness?).

Take care and UTB 👍

Well yes I don’t know if I’ll get to see the game tomorrow. Normally I’d watch it on TV but I’m not living at home at the moment. I suspect if I do watch it then it’ll just be wallpaper but you never know. Thanks weemoby

Surprisingly so is having a goldfish. I've looked after my daughter's goldfish for the past nine years. I am convinced the wee thing knows when I'm around. I also looked after a friend's parrot for 8 weeks - it had my accent off to a tee and (without warning) wished me "Night-night" one evening. Nearly fainted. All true. Honestly. 🐋🦈🐬🐦🐥🐧

Should have got it to say something typically Teesside. Maybe “now then” or even “up the Boro” lol

Not sure if this is a good suggestion or not AET.

What about powerlifting - deadlift, benchpress & squat.

Not a stupid suggestion as I get the point of exercise.

During lockdown I started walking miles. And from that taught myself to run. Not quite couch to 5k but similar. Up to a point when I was running 5 miles daily during winter and could run 10k in just over an hour.

Not bad for a fatty who hadn’t done any form of exercise since school.

Now I’m ill I can’t run at all, which I suspect makes me miserable.

I can still walk for miles but I tire easily.

I take the point.

Power lifting could be right up your street mate, fatties (your words not mine) are good at powerlifting.

Without boring you too much, you lift weights as heavy as you can for a few reps.

You’d be surprised how quickly you improve and how much of a buzz you get out of it.

Also how addictive it is!

Best wishes AET, wish I could offer some practical advice but I really hope things work out for you
