Genuinely think he needs sacking

We stand more chance without Carrick in charge if we do somehow get in the top 6. Look at how easy we fell apart the last time he got us in the playoffs, despite having a significantly better squad than the other 3 teams
When you say we "fell apart" you mean we lost by the odd goal having had the better of the first leg.

There's plenty out there. Thanks for a reasoned reply rather than a condescending one.
I am genuinely struggling to think of one. No doubt some coach in Europe may be unearthed but it's better to negotiate their release in the Summer rather than with a couple of months to go until the end of the season surely? This season is not a write of but many seems to think its over. It isn't.

Yeah, Scott will have a list of coaches in Europe chomping at the bit. Then there's the likes of Cooper, Edwards etc on these shores.

Maybe it will work out that there's someone better available in the summer. We will see, but my frustration is I think this season will Peter out if we remain with Carrick. The form is so bad I can not see how he is going to stop us conceding goal after goal.

But it soon will be if we keep doing what we've been doing for the last 6 weeks.

How do you know he is a good coach?
as a manager he got the better of.. Paul Cook, Jose Gomes, Gerhard Struber, Lee Bowyer, Michael O'Neill, Danny Cowley, Slaven Bilic, Alex Neil, Steve Cooper, Neil Warnock, Tony Mowbray, Mark Robins, Carlos Corberan, Daniel Farke & Gary Rowett

he's been assistant manager here under Tony Pullis and Michael Carrick and in both periods we made the playoffs.. neither manager/head coach has complained of his input.

maybe Jonathan Woodgate isn't the problem after all..

Not fixing the squad weaknesses is ridiculous.
Edmondson is a donkey,no midfield re-enforcements, crazy decisions that will cost us dearly.

I mean we failed to get promoted despite having a significantly better squad than those around us. Team just falls to bits under the slightest bit of pressure, it’s a theme under carrick

Yeah but come on Finny I am sure you could find competent retail managers quite easily. It’s not the same as finding men who need to coach professional footballers to win - there isn’t a big pool ready to go.
The principal is the same - someone not good enough is having a massive impact.
People around that individual usually know the ‘boss’ isn’t good enough. In that scenario no one wins.

The suggestion that you hang on to a football manager you know isn’t good enough for what you want to achieve messes with my mind.

Lets agree to disagree

Gibson may well think he is good enough btw - that’s his prerogative but a different discussion.
If he isn’t good enough, I don’t believe we couldn’t tempt someone better.

Not this again, who says we have "a significantly better squad" - it's all subjective and good teams are greater than the sum of their parts.

We're told by the board experts that we have a better squad than Sunderland, how is that working out ?
We had a far better squad than Luton, Coventry or Sunderland that season. It was a complete failure not to get promoted that season

why single him out specifically? is that his sole responsibility?

why is he not a good coach when we are winning?
but when we are loosing it is his responsibility?
I haven’t singled him out. He is part of a coaching set up with Carrick (x2) and Leads that doesn’t appear to be able to sort out our defensive issues that we have had for 2 seasons now.

In Woodgate’s case he has also been here before as manager and we were similarly poor as a team under him (though he of course had the excuse that the table was lying……until of course, it wasn’t and we came back after several weeks of prep time during covid break to that masterclass that was Swansea! So forgive me if I have my misgivings about him and his abilities.

FWIW, even when we’ve played well I’ve had misgivings about us without the ball and have voiced it before many times.

It doesn’t mean he is a good coach. Boro has generally been a jobs for the boys environment and it is likely, Woodgate is one of the boys.

However, that is me speculating, rather like you saying he is a good coach.

I still think give him until the end of the season, see how the new players bed in. I don't believe he will get us up and I'm not convinced we'll progress if we don't go up but I'll be very happy to be proved wrong.

Plenty of time to turn it around, heck we lost the playoff off final to a team we beat 5-0 over 2 league games under Karanka. This league is nuts and is a bookies dream.

Having slept on it I don't see how he survives this for much longer.

The form is horrendous, he's had backing, he continually plays a formation and uses tactics that don't win games consistently. He's got a poor rapport with the fans, the connection is zero. Our games are predictable to watch, we are flaky. His substitutions are uninspiring.

He's a lovely respectful bloke and I've enjoyed having him as a Boro manager for a while but that enjoyment has long gone.

We won't be successful this season if we continue with this. I don't really understand why we have to continue until the end of the season, a new manager with a bit of nous and someone we can connect too might be enough to get us into the playoffs with this group of players.

Sorry for the negative post against the Boro manager but I don't see anything but more poor results happening under him.
Could well happen, but if we get a new manager he will need to get rid of all of defenders which may take 2 or 3 windows. Maybe let Carrick get to the end of the season, as its sensible to do this, we aren't going down. It will cost a lot of money to get rid of the full management team when in contract.

when he went to Liverpool was is job for the boys? or Bournemouth?

whose boys have Pullis & Warnock been?

Southgate was our captain and credited with our European victories in the dressing room.. he kept us in the premier league which is not as easy as many fans seem to think and he went on to be come one of our most successful England managers ever

Mowbray gave up £750k to come and manage us.. when no one else would.. he built a promotion winning team on a shoe string.

Woodgate again chronically underfunded came in when no one else would for his very first job. He did netter than most and even at his worst had a better record than Chris Wilder's last season with us.

jobs for the boys, square pegs in round holes... it's all just moronic drivel that sounds good in a group of other morons parroting the same thing at each other. four four two.. change the system.. get at em..
