Genuinely think he needs sacking

Does a new manager get more out of the players available? That's the pertinent question. I don't think Ayling/ Edmundson suddenly perform under a new gaffer. OR Morris/Burgzorg win the tackles they should have to stop the goals we conceded last night and games gone by.

I'm not happy with how things are going but don't think sacking Carrick is the answer. Certainly not 1 day after the window has closed.

IF we are floundering until the ends of the season with no improvement in our obvious deficiencies the summer is the time for such a decision.

I honestly wouldn't care if he sacked him this afternoon. In a way I'd be quite relieved. Feels like we're just dragging it out and going through the motions until the inevitable happens. I'm the most angry I've been for a long time following a game. I'm normally over it the next morning, but last night was inexcusable, and it's going to take a while I think. Its a shame we don't have a game sooner than next midweek, but as a great man once said, "it is what it is".

Sheff Wed on Boxing Day was a turning point for me though, but even then I was a bit meh. We can't keep going like this, and neither can Carrick as he will get the sack if this continues much longer. Feels like its only a matter of time now anyway. Gibson will probably give him until the end of the season, and see who else is available, but it must be going through his mind to act sooner, especially if we start losing touch with the top 6.

I was quite excited a few days ago given the players we were signing and linked with, but we've actually weakened our defence and not strengthened our midfield. That is utter madness, but I do think Gibson has his reasons for that, in that he doesn't want to shell out for players when we are more than likely changing manager again in the next 6 months.

It’s all going to work out, I’ve looked in my tea leaves and this is what will happen…

Sunderland will carry on with their excellent form and finish the season on 95 points, but miss out on automatic promotion on goal difference on the last day of the season.

We’ll improve to the point of being almost mediocre and scrape into the playoffs, after winning our last 3 games, 30 points behind the Mackems.

Then we’ll somehow beat them with a last minute Onien own goal at the SOL. Hayden Hackney will hang his shirt, shorts and socks on the corner flag and do a lap of honour with it.

Then we’ll lose at Wembley again.

Having slept on it I don't see how he survives this for much longer.

The form is horrendous, he's had backing, he continually plays a formation and uses tactics that don't win games consistently. He's got a poor rapport with the fans, the connection is zero. Our games are predictable to watch, we are flaky. His substitutions are uninspiring.

He's a lovely respectful bloke and I've enjoyed having him as a Boro manager for a while but that enjoyment has long gone.

We won't be successful this season if we continue with this. I don't really understand why we have to continue until the end of the season, a new manager with a bit of nous and someone we can connect too might be enough to get us into the playoffs with this group of players.

Sorry for the negative post against the Boro manager but I don't see anything but more poor results happening under him.

Glad you managed to get some sleep mate x

Just cos we as fans don't have the name right now doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be sacked. Kieran Scott will have a list of names.

Of course they could. Look at Moyes at Everton. We don't have to go too far back in our history to see that Karanka did it after Mogga was sacked.

Different ideas, someone with a more tactical approach could get this squad playing much better.

It's not my job to have a name in mind.
I didn't say it was your job. But if you were watching telly with your missus and said 'turn this shìte off' it's not unreasonable that she might enquire as to your preferred channel. Which you've done to be fair by mentioning Steve Cooper.

He wouldn't be my preferred choice. It's just a name of a better football manager who is available than Michael Carrick which you were asking for.

Doesn't mean I want him, but he would have us better than how we are doing now.

Agree only going backwards under Carrick and his obvious limits that are repeated every post/week on here, there is world full of managers with potential without the need to return to previous boro managers. He's lost the fans and i believe the players(a lot of on pitch blame culture) people just don't believe in his constant plan A, Lack of in game tactical knowledge and boring football to watch he's killed the match day atmosphere with constant ball retention/recycling. Even his interviews are starting to resemble Wilders towards the end when you question what game he's been watching. Hopefully we will replace him before the season is conceded in a slow death if not i will carry on supporting team sadly with no belief it will improve consistently.

Season ticket details are released 2 weeks today. There's going to have to be some almighty lift in mood around the club, especially if prices rise again.

But if Scott has a list of potential gaffers to replace the doomed Carrick, do you not think they will be ones who play the same style of football as Carrick?

We haven’t signed 42 attacking options to play Pulis-ball

I'd like to think a new manager would drop Edmundson.

You can still play the same style of football and be better at the back. Carrick isn't the only manager who can work with our players. People really are craping the barrel for reasons to keep him.
