Genuinely think he needs sacking

I guess I'm saying that a thread about sacking the manager is unavoidably about replacing him with someone.

Everyone knows that though. Not sure why you think the fans should name the next manager. There's a big world out there I'm sure there's plenty of coaches available who be good Boro managers.

I thought Carrick was one for a while, and he was for a while but it's ran its course. We will leave it at that cos we're going round in circles.

boro fans are stupid enough to call for Carrick's head.. and then complain when we replace him lol

Jonathan Woodgate is a good coach.. he doesn't get enough credit from our fanbase.
He’s a good coach, but he cannot help organise us without the ball…….? So is he a good coach?

Of course you're entitled to an opinion, wouldn't dream of suggesting otherwise. But to say a thread is about x, but nothing to do with the direct consequence of x makes no sense to me.

And for the avoidance of doubt I'm not saying conclusively that he shouldn't be sacked.
I think we all ‘get’ if he goes someone will replace him.
Labouring the point that it’s the job of a message board to do that is being questioned.

I’ve hired and fired many in my time.
I’ve never stopped firing someone because I didn’t have anyone in mind… and nor should any leader.

I didn't say it was your job. But if you were watching telly with your missus and said 'turn this shìte off' it's not unreasonable that she might enquire as to your preferred channel. Which you've done to be fair by mentioning Steve Cooper.
Nah. You flick through the channels until you find one you like. Or the first one that isn't showing adverts.
Or you hit the Netflix button and argue about Bridgerton or Narcos.
Of course my wife always wins so Narcos it is.

What’s the point of that? Carrick has shown no signs at all that he can get this side promoted, we are miles away from that sort of level. Why waste the rest of the season waiting to find out the inevitable
I agree
But
There is a massively outside chance of going off via the play offs. The money on offer is compelling (as much as the season up there would be awful for the fans)
SG has to make the right call as to how best achieve that.
Lets face it - he is backing Carrick for that

This is where I'm at now. I feel a change gives us the best chance of some hope of success. We stay the same then we are going to be disappointed

I specifically said it wasn't his job. I was just proffering advice on what's a thought through opinion. And he was well within his rights to tell me - as he did - what to do with my advice.

why single him out specifically? is that his sole responsibility?

why is he not a good coach when we are winning?
but when we are loosing it is his responsibility?

I'm entitled to my opinion, I've been thinking about it for a while and today is the day I feel like it's time for a change. I haven't started this thread lightly I knew there would be some backlash and different opinions but it's not right to question me on who I would appoint. Because that's not what the thread is about.

In my opinion I think his time as Boro manager should be over and it's time to find a replacement. It's just an opinion. Some will agree, some won't. That's fine
I wholeheartedly disagree with your opinion. Whilst he may have lost a section of fans I am pretty sure Gibson will wait to make a decision. post season. In the meantime we still have a good chance of making the playoffs and what the team needs and am sure will get is full support at home and on the road for the next 12 weeks of the season. We have 4 new players to bed in, two of which are capable of being match winners

I see no benefit to us bringing another manager who is presumably unemployed at the moment in at this stage in the season. Until I see the players downing tools and not playing for the manager he has my support.

Last nights defeat was to the second best team in the League. The fact that it was Sunderland smarts even more.

This is not just about last night. It's a build up of form over the last 15 games. It's about failing to hit our target last season. It's about conceding goals on a regular basis.

I agree that he won't be sacked yet but it is my opinion that he should be. If we get beat in the next 2 games then I don't personally see how he survives what's going to come from the fan base.

Yeah but come on Finny I am sure you could find competent retail managers quite easily. Its not the same as finding men who need to coach professional footballers to win - there isn’t a big pool ready to go.

There's plenty out there. Thanks for a reasoned reply rather than a condescending one.

We stand more chance without Carrick in charge if we do somehow get in the top 6. Look at how easy we fell apart the last time he got us in the playoffs, despite having a significantly better squad than the other 3 teams
