Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

Realpolitik. I don't think starting a nuclear war is a good idea. So understanding why Putin is doing what he's doing is vital to get a positive outcome (as opposed to blowing everyone to bits). Half the posters on here don't seem to realise Russia couldn't possibly sustain a shooting war with...

Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

Not a field officer in the sense he wasn't working in enemy territory running agents.

Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

I recommend doing both. He doesn't need to lie like a Western politician. He said he was going to invade and he did. And he told his people why, and what he was going to do. And it looks like he's doing exactly what he said. I read his speech and most of it I couldn't argue with. From a Russian...

Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

Odd that he didn't mention it in his speech recently. Putin was trained as a lawyer. He came from the most European of Russian cities - St Petersburg. He was a backroom officer in the KGB and according to the source I read was not a field officer. He actually asked to be part of NATO a few...

Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

There's a security pact among a number of prior Soviet states. Those that are aligned with Russia. There are Russian minorities in all these states as a result of intentional social engineering by Lenin and Stalin after the revolution in 1917. They wanted to dilute Russian power oddly enough.

Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

Best thing for Ukraine is negotiate for peace. I get the sense they're hoping that if they create enough mayhem NATO will get involved. Which would not be good because it ends in nuclear war. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwnKhHOuMBw&ab_channel=Mega3DStudios

Should NATO send troops to help Ukraine?

Not when they already have troops there and have done for years.

    Ukraine - invasion underway

Zelensky has offered to take Ukraine neutral. Which is precisely what is going to happen if Putin does what he said he would do in his speech. Putin can't occupy Ukraine or go after other countries without massively increasing his armies. And that requires money he doesn't have. Hopefully he...

    Ukraine - invasion underway

Putins popularity is around 70%. That's the amazing part. They're allowing (for now) the 29% who are against the war to have their say.

Please, a basic explanation to what’s happening: Re Russia and Ukraine

I believe the following to be correct, but I may be wrong in certain details. Either way it's what I've culled from various sources over the past few days of panicking over what is happening. I don't think Putin will go further than Ukraine. But Ukraine will be demilitarised. Who knows what...

    Ukraine - invasion underway

Believe that is a regular occurrence recently. But perhaps they're taking advantage of the situation. China is already well in place in US institutions so I doubt they'd risk outright invasion that would force a response. I understand most US defence companies get their chips from Taiwan. So...

    Ukraine - invasion underway

According to the Russians With Attitude Twitter account Russian troops are already at the suburbs of Kiev. No idea if it's true. https://twitter.com/RWApodcast

    Is a world war looming

Putin announced he'd be moving troops in as "peacekeepers" on Russian TV so it wouldn't be a surprise. According to Putin he's only moving in troops because the Ukrainians have been shelling the Donbas. Whatever the truth of that I assume he'll say the leaders in the respective regions have...

Putin to recognise the independence of two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine

Had Ukraine fulfilled the terms of the Minsk Protocol it wouldn't have been an option for Putin to recognise the break away republics. They would have had special status within Ukraine as the Protocol defined. The Protocol was signed as part of the agreement to halt the war in 2014. Last week...
