Wilder Rumours

Never have we had a manager where I felt he was only ever here as a stepping stone to the next big job. Don't get me wrong, I'm abundantly aware we'd be viewed in those terms by lots of managers but with Wilder if feels much more implicit. He doesn't seem to be bothered by speculation around him, even if he is perceived of lacking loyalty by the fan base. Other managers would rush to quash rumors of this nature to keep fans onside.

Its a strange one and I think a lot of it is fueled by rage clicks. It'll all be soon forgotten if results turn around, as is always the case.

Oh yes it’s definitely aimed at destabilising us I completely agree but I’m just making an observation that all journalists in this country just make stuff up just isn’t true.
It isn’t aimed at destabilising Middlesbrough. It’s about reporting what they’ve been told or have been able to verify. Why would that journalist have an agenda against Boro?

He is a Newcastle fan? He had a run in with Gibson once? He is desperate for a story? Any number of reasons

My biggest worry with wilder is the fact there are no academy players on his bench ( rarely if ever) and this flies in the face of what we all know the clubs philosophy is based on. Look at howson new role to see that.

I can’t for one minute think Steve Gibson Is happy with this given the time and money we have ploughed into our academy to see largely sidelined at senior level.

It just appears on the outside to be a complete clash of ideologies.
It exactly that wilder is a stubborn character who is renowned for preferring experienced pros. Wilder may be a great manager (I don't believe he is mind), but he's a terrible match for Middlesbrough he's unlikely to promote youth or development players which is a complete clash with the clubs long term Strategy. For that reason alone it was never going to work, another bad appointment by Steve Gibson.

I also think the timing of howson “new role” is interesting as well as surely that’s a gentle hint from above that the academy still matters at this club.

Oh come on. How many journalists and match officials have you got down as having an agenda against Boro? It must be at least 44 by now.
I never said it was against the boro I said it destabilising as it is for any club to have such talk about their manager.

Btw there are journalists who favour certain clubs and play down others google Kate battersby. To see my point.

Your naive if you don’t think that.

Of course, some journalists support clubs and report on them every week. I could name people like Jamie Jackson or Tony Evans. But I just can’t see why a football writer for a national newspaper would have any interest in trying to destabilise a second division club.

He might be a Newcastle fan and write about them or whatever, but the Gazette’s Boro writer is a Sunderland lad. He’s a fair-minded writer from what I can see. Not all football fans, journalists and writers are hostile towards every other club you know.

So i you don’t think Steve gibson has an issue not seeing any academy players in the first team set up.

Really
He probably enjoys seeing one in the middle of the defence every week. And quite enjoys the opportunities we’ve given to young Isaiah and Coburn. He’ll be proud that one of the best ones to come through in recent years is now playing Premier League football and has just earned the club about 12m quid. He might have raised a glass to whichever scout sent Spence up from London and to those who turned him into a multi-million pound footballer.

Karanka’s does include his stint in the premier league.. making it all the more impressive compared to Wilder. I think Karanka also ran on a surplus.. the main reason we were unable to compete in the prem. Monk and Pulis were tasked with the same objective as Chris Wilder.. Woodgate was not.
Cheers for your post and feedback, no way what so ever Karanka ran a transfer surplus. He ran a deficit.

Link? Not on their Twitter feed. And in any case couldn’t they have just jumped on the Daily Mail murmers?

As I said above there’s normally a reason for these stories.

Btw for all our posts of varying opinions

there’s only one man that truly knows the truth and he’s also the only one that can end the speculation as well.
