Wilder Rumours

Newy - does the Karanka figure include his time the Premier League something like 4 wins in 31? or about 13%.

Have you got Wilders win % in the Premier League?

Wilder is running at least a £13m surplus on player fees. Pulis and Monk were operating with parachute payments, for the whole of their tenure.

What was Woodgate's win %?
Karanka’s does include his stint in the premier league.. making it all the more impressive compared to Wilder. I think Karanka also ran on a surplus.. the main reason we were unable to compete in the prem. Monk and Pulis were tasked with the same objective as Chris Wilder.. Woodgate was not.

Does anybody remember the time when the rumours around three Boro players in the ‘90s became so widespread that Robbo had to do a Gazette bit saying it was all complete b*llocks? Ben Roberts, Mikkel Beck and Phil Stamp were the players involved.

This thread reminds me of that. It’s out of hand, malicious, probably libellous. You wonder what motivates people to start and then spread this sort of rubbish. You’re talking about the manager and the captain of the club here. And club staff.

Grow up FFS.

Unashamedly, and despite some thinking he was a sandwich short of a picnic, I absolutely love AK and for all his faults he was the best thing to happen to this club in a generation. I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Mowbray 12/13 1.68m

Mowbray / Karanka 13/14 -2.15m

Karanka 14/15 -4.47m

Karanka 15/16 -23.67m

Karanka 16/17 -31.01m

Monk/pulls 17/18 -1.22m

Pulis 18/19 23.93m

Woodgate 19/20 9.57m

Warnock 20/21 - 2.3m

Warnock/wilder 21/22 -9.68m

Wilder 22/23 15.93m so far

Some of those will be market estimates as the club doesn't like to release fees, but based on that we've only ran a surplus in a couple of seasons

Manager betting odds are no gauge. I mean he was 1/5 to join Burnley. They usually get slashed because some clown has put a big bet on (resulting in some thinking insider info).

It's not because everyone is placing bets.

I don't think that is what he means.
The specific signings in Karanka's reign did wash their face overall in terms of fees paid versus fees received.
The club have only had a nett profit before tax once since relegation in 2009; that was in the 2016-17 PL season that Karanka got us promoted to.

I hear Mowbray this and that, and that he built Karanka's team.
He didn't. Karanka got more out of Mowbray's bargain signings than he could get himself and signed well himself to get us up and give us a chance.
Karanka then got pathetic backing in that summer window with frees, loans and prospects. January was shambolic and Gibson got what he deserved.

Interesting throw-away line at the end of the Mail speculation:

"Were Bournemouth to make an approach down the line, it is unlikely to be met with resistance."
Really?
Is the journo telling us Gibson and Wilder have been sounded out?
Bullschitt - like the rest of the scribble.(n)

doesn't it also say "championship rivals"?! cheeky barstewards.....

And so it continues…

Just sounds like a lot of speculation in that article.
They might make an approach at the end of October if their new owners like him.

But it's bound to sow further discontent in the Middlesbrough fanbase, so that's fun, exactly what you'd expect from the Daily Mail.

7 matches in October, if the results are bad then the fans will hound him out.
If the results are good then the fans will expect him to be leaving and start hounding him anyway.
