Tour de France (Contains Spoilers) 🚴🏼‍♀️🇫🇷

Agree with Kennaugh on ITV4 - if the break is over 5 mins they have a chance, but it's not looking likely. I reckon they'll lose a minute or two before the start of the Cat 1 climb. Herrada or Lutsenko could win from there, but GVA im not sure.

Should stay away unless the favourites decide to race each other. There's some false flat at the ski station then it's 'relatively' easy up to the meteo station.

The GC guys are keeping their powder dry and with the break staying away there wasn't the incentive of a stage win to tempt one of the lesser riders out.

Part of the conversation pre TDF was whether Roglic can last 3 weeks.
Feels like he will if it stays like this
Guess part of the issue is SKY are nowhere near where they wanted to be

Its usually deep into the second week when fatigue really kicks in when things become clearer whether they can last the pace. But Roglic looking good. He has won a GT so theres no doubting he can do it.

The Ineos strategy, I think, will be to wait until week 3 and then really apply cumulative pressure upon JV and Roglic. They'll try to burn Van Aert and Roglic on the long HC climbs. Their problem, if they do this, is Dumoulin. I think that Bernal can outclimb Roglic on long aerobic threshold type efforts. Dumoulin has, in the past, been harder to shake off.

Just bumping this as it's fallen off the first page.

Much livelier start today with Bora playing a really smart move by isolating Sam Bennett who is now in the 2nd group. 17pts for Sagan at the intermediate sprint so he's back in Green.

There were three small climbs in the first 25k and Bora just put the hammer down until the sprinters started going out the back. They kept the pressure up with most of the team driving at the front til Bennett was over two and a half minutes back. Obviously a tactic they had decided on overnight and well executed. I very much doubt Sam will get back now so he may as well write today off and conserve his energy.

PS Won't see the end as I'm off for a ride with the better half on the Veloroute (Paris-Mont St Michel) which we can pick up just a kilometre away from the house. Too nice out there to be staying in Tour or not.

The reason I missed the start was I went for a spin. 18 degrees when I left.....then the wind came in and the clouds came over. Dropped to 14 degrees and I came back the last 20km direct into a headwind of around 18mph
Oh to be in France......……..

It's been a brutal day today and he wind could help blow the GC and Green jersey competition to pieces.
Bora deserve a lot of credit for being so aggressive and predicting the conditions so well.
