Brilliant racing. The first week of the tour can be dull. Not this one. Good to see Hirschi up there ... another great young talent.

That’s the great unknown isn’t it?
It could end at any time - still not sure if they would authorise a ’winner’ if a significant part of the race hasn’t been completed though.

Or more cynically will it encourage the French to cancel now they have a French rider in yellow? Thing is there would be no great triumph winning it that way. Allaphillipe may well lose yellow tomorrow‘s Stage 4 - a tough stage.

Proper sprint stage. Some crappy road furniture to navigate like in last 5km, but excellent finish. No pile ups, cracking sprint just on the right side mad/amazing from Ewan.

If he's anywhere near last year, Alaphillipe could hang around for a while in the GC game. Stage 6 & 8 look more problematic for him, longer draggier climbs.

A frenchman in yellow. Hard to shift. He can climb and there's just one serious climb tomorrow. He's on a par with Roglic on that kind of stage.

Seppp Kuss is an animal on those slopes. What a 2nd in command Roglic has. That was a statement by JV. Ineos blown away today.

Van Aert did about 4km on the front.. If he wasn't riding for Roglic he probably could have won the stage himself
