Tour de France (Contains Spoilers) 🚴🏼‍♀️🇫🇷

I really should have looked at the profile a bit closer, had no idea that that last climb was that steep.
Roglic and JV look to be the ones to beat, lots of form riders who are more than capable in their own right.

Crazy fact - as of yesterday, Sagan had only worn his regular team jersey in five TdF stages in his entire career. All the others in his career he has been in green, yellow, white, or the rainbow world champion’s jersey!

Apparently this was the first time he had been in green and lost it

I heard somebody say that too but have just checked this fact and it’s not quite true. In 2012,13 and 14 he didn’t lose the shirt and in fact only two stages when he didn’t hold it. In 2015 he lost it for one stage to Andre Greipel and in 2016 he lost it a couple of times to Mark Cavendish.

Will it be a day for the out and out sprinters or will the little incline approach to the finish make it more suited to the GVA/WVA type rider? Maybe a day for Sagan?

Sat at home doing a series of Zoom meetings. Got the TV on in background.
Sadly, meetings are more exciting.

Pure sprinter today I’d have thought?

If you wanted to bet on a winner Sagan is probably as a good a call as anyone. If Roglic has it in his legs he might be another good shout?

At the moment it is more like sightseeing than racing. The joys of WFH I guess!

Yates is now in Yellow Jersey !!!
Alaphilippe penalised 20 secs for taking a bidon in last 20 kms

Huge call be commissar

The right call - in full view of the cameras.Well now, that's a warning shot for everyone else. If the race committee can penalize Ala, no one else can expect to get much slack.

There should be more action today with a 'rest day' in their legs. I've stayed with friends about 10k from the summit finish, but only ridden the last few k. I have driven the route from le Vigan a few times and although not the hardest climb it's long and there'll only be a select group at the top. Wonderful views up there.

Just watched the documentary film Time Trial ( Amazon Prime rental) which is the 2017 documentary on David Millar in his last season as a Pro at the Giro, Dauphine and Tour de France. Really recommend a no bars doc on life pn the pro circuit.

Not a follower of cycling but I heard this on the news this morning.

I'm sure they said it was for having a drink in the last 20km.

Can someone who knows about these things please explain why.

It is a rule put in by the race organisers to prevent

a) nutrition boosts for the end of rhe race and a measure to restrict the potential disruption in flow at the end of a race as riders slow down to take on food. In reality I am not sure its a rule many In cycling necessarily agree with but there you are.

Because the final 20kms is when teams start seriously jostling for position for the finish. To allow feeds/drinks is dangerous. All the riders and managers know this, so it's no hardship to take the bidon a couple of kilometres earlier. It was Tom Steels, Alaphillipe's DS who cĂ´cked up. Note that two other riders were also docked 20 seconds.

EDIT Just noticed your wording. The penalty is not for 'having a drink' but for taking a bottle from the roadside soigneur.
