Dieng had another great game with the ball at his feet, great range of passing.

Probably try dieng in the 10 role to be honest. I think he would probably select the right option more often than anyone else we have had there.

In all seriousness though, why not play Hackney as the 10? Mcgree and Jones either side? Then howson can partner O'brien in the centre?
 
How Silvera, who had a truly, truly terrible game, stayed on until the 89th minute is baffling.

We had a striker on the bench in a game where they were there for the taking, and we're in desperate need of a result, and Carrick just stood idly by for most of the match.
 
If that wasn’t two relegated sides battling out I don’t know what is.

We’ll be very lucky to survive this season, whoever our manager is.
 
I am normally super positive but fck me not sure where we go from here too many poor players who are no where near good enough Rodgers, Silvera , Engel not sure about Greenwood yet I guess on the positive we have Forss to come back Bangura could be ok , Smith is an improvement ,as is Dijksteel and Lath ain't bad even O'Brien who I rated looks bang average bloody nightmare ah well it is only a game

Subs in the second half, bar Jones, were terrible. Only person in that stadium who would’ve subbed McGree instead of Silvera is Carrick.

Leaving Lath on the bench and then bringing Rogers on for a few messily minutes… why?

I feel even worse about the season and the club after tonight.

Be interesting to see what the attendance is on Saturday.

Only positives I can take are Jones cameo and our Dutch centre half turned right back VDB suddenly emerging as our best fit left back.
 
Our xG was 0.61..
By far the lowest we've had this season, and I'd guess most of that was from the goal itself... which would have almost certainly have been disallowed with VAR.
That was one of the straws we all clutched in our early run of games.

Even the chances dried up tonight, it's depressing and very concerning

Silvera was so so poor in everything he done, its scary that Carrick can't see it. The nadir being when he ran on to that ball over the top on about 50 min and was favourite but visibly slowed down so he didn't have to challenge the keeper for it. Showed a real lack of desire. And competent manager would have hauled him off then and there. Yes the squad has lost some quality but Carricks problems are largely of his own making. There is a better team in this squad than he is producing. Either the players aren't good enough to play the system he wants or the system is flawed, either way he can't change the players at this stage so if he is too stubborn to change how we play then he is digging his own grave sadly.

a combination of Stokesley show and the Ryder cup seems more appealing than putting myself through the wringer again on Saturday

His subs were pretty insipid too.
