The 9am figures not disclosed yet?

What is rising then in your view? Doesn’t more positive cases per day mean that infections as a percentage are rising?

No sir so I've been through this on the last page.. it's the % testing positive vs the number of tests taken, this number is not changing.

Add false positives into the mix and it's clear we're hunting virus rather than finding it.

Believe there are 56 people in hospital with it.

So all in all, good news.

Yes I understand what you are saying, thanks for clarifying 👍

How reliable is the test data. Does it include ones that have been sent out in the post that haven’t been processed

It includes false positives and negatives so as reliable as you want to portray it to be I'd say. 😉

In all seriousness pretty reliable don't want to be a ******.

Do we think yesterday’s 1000+ reported cases was a blip? I know cases have been rising, but not that quickly
The pillar 1 figure 3 days ago was the highest for almost a month, but generally falling off.

There is an issue with false positives / negatives. With a relatively low % of cases coming out positive, the error could be quite large with small numbers. Ultimately, hospitalisation is an important figure and that's falling. But, there seems to be an increasing proportion of home deaths; home care are the least tested professionals and it will be some time before all home visiting carers are tested.

As of 9am on 10 August, 311,641 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK (pillar 1 and 2, see descriptions below).

Positive cases (pillars 1 and 2) were 816. 76 were Pillar 1.

8 deaths were reported today.
On worldometer it started that 69 deaths have been removed from the overall figure as there wasn't a positive test (although they will probably be in the ONS figures as Covid-19 was started as a cause).

Also, they reported 21 deaths today, not the hmgov figure of 8.

Weekly deaths for 11/08:-

8946

5 year average:-

9036

I think the causes more concerns than positives. We’ve had c60k + deaths so we are still not seeing under excess deaths

One conclusion is that we are now seeing deaths because of treatments being stopped for 3 months in some departments of the hospital etc

another could be it hasn’t hit people who were expected to die as hard as we thought therefore it track closer to 5 year average

with the virus in less circulation at the moment you would expect it to be you’d expect to be tracking much

Well the median age of death is 80 for covid so disagree ....

It's currently literally the Lowest time in the year for death.

You forget deaths have been trending upwards since 2011 so you might expect to be over the 5 year average.

The one thing that concerns me is a significant rise in suicides in young people.

The claim that we're still in a pandemic is at this point tenuous in my opinion.

Positive cases
As of 9am on 11 August, 312,789 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK.

Positive cases (pillars 1 and 2) were 1,148. 96 were pillar 1.
Jesus, I was hoping the thousand plus cases on Sunday was an outlier.

It’s from 10 days ago, and is Carl heneghan producing a piece which is an opinion piece

It may be 10 days old but it still holds the same weight.

Asking if Carl Heneghan a scientist for the center of evidence based medicine is doing an opinion piece in said publication is a bit silly isn't it Gaz.

A friend of mine died a couple of weeks back in a Teesside hospital, he was in his 50s. He contracted the virus a few months back, he didn't fully recover. He had an underlying condition.

How many of these deaths are not being counted as Covid19 deaths and are they being kept away from the official figures purposely as the pressure is increased to 'get back to normal'?

Sorry to hear that CtC.. I don't want to be flippant but how do you know he wasn't? How do you know it was the virus that took his life?

I'm not looking for an answer just trying to give perspective. I hope you're ok its awful losing someone you have spent years talking to and doing things with.
