The 9am figures not disclosed yet?

For those who may be worried about Johnson's announcement tomorrow about the relaxation of restrictions from May 17th the BBC have some advice for everybody.

Today's headline analysis:

• 1,770 new cases reported in 24-hour period, down from yesterday's 2,047
• 7-day average for new cases increases by 0.7% to 2,094 per day, following 1.0% increase yesterday
• 7-day average for new cases is 4.3% lower than one week ago (from 5.2% lower yesterday) and 14.1% lower than two weeks ago (from 15.5% lower yesterday and 14.4% lower 7 days ago)
• 2 new deaths within 28 days of a positive test reported in 24-hour period, down from 5 yesterday
• 7-day average for new deaths within 28 days of a positive test decreases by 15.2% to 10 per day, following 2.5% decrease yesterday
• 7-day average for new deaths within 28 days of a positive test is 39.1% lower than one week ago (from 26.2% lower yesterday) and 58.1% lower than two weeks ago (from 50.3% lower yesterday and 39.9% lower 7 days ago)

UK Covid Alert Level finally reduced to 3.
We seem to fit the rules for deescalation

4 to 3

  • Are there estimated to be less than 10,000 new infections per day?
  • Is the UK weekly case rate less than 25 per 100,000 population?
  • Has the national estimate of R been consistently <1 for at least 4 weeks?
  • Have the observed number of new daily COVID-19 confirmed infections, hospital admissions, ICU admissions and deaths been on a downward trend for the last 4 weeks?

It looks as if case numbers per day need to halve again to go to alert level 2.

Guess level 3 till autumn then...

Well you've done it now. On the plus side I can see you and Billy doing stats for all eternity. Billy probably has a spreadsheet for everyday of the rest of his life including a nicely arranged funeral, socially distanced of course!

Let's hope that come the summer we will look back at the last 18 months as an anomoly. not the norm.

Small rise? Weird. Was hoping for zero today!

Probably the same tomorrow as last Tuesday followed a bank holiday, but hopefully Wednesday and Thursday sees the general downward trend continuing.

The 7 day average for numbers of deaths is 10 per day, which isn't much higher than the lowest figure of 8 deaths per day last August.
