• 96 new deaths within 28 days of a positive test reported in 24-hour period, down from 101 yesterday

If we can keep that going for a couple of weeks it should make up for the ones arriving late, that were going to be due in April.

Hopefully the "late" AZ batch of 5m is just "late", and not a month delay to the program.

I suspect we are getting to the level of infection we are going to have to live with, around 5,000 or so. With the vulnerable vaccinated at least with the first dose, you would hope the government will use only hospitalizations to guide the release of lockdown. Given you can still catch the virus once vaccinated, we will see the numbers rise further once restrictions ease. Hopefully excess mortality will not occur and we can all start getting back to normal.

More relevant are hospitalisations and deaths.

And if the former are, then the latter will. Also I hate to say this but there were 18 suicides every day in 2019. I know a few people on here talk about the mental health issues with lockdown but that is illuminating in regard to today's death figure

I'd read that there are 450 cancer related deaths per day on average. Not sure how true that is mind.
