Talk to me about Hackney

I think Doak set the tone early by being attacking and aggressive. It’s been missing and it sort of gave others a bit of a licence to have a go. I’m not sure McGree or Hackney would’ve had a shot a couple of weeks ago, and both resulted in our goals.

Doak is a great player and will be the difference for us this season if we keep him fit.

Great finish, he played very well today. More of a excellent team performance than any individuals. Some fans demand a bit more and good players deliver. 2 superb goals. I'm sure were all buzzing for Hackney and Boro.

6 points 2 games happy days

After the Sunderland game I posted saying that I was concerned he was going to prove to be a one season wonder. It's clearly given him a kick up the backside, not that I'm trying to take any credit for it haha.

He's shown great character to bounce back from that game and perform the way he has these last two games.

Genuinely a laughable thread.

Please keep hoofing it.
I don't really see why its laughable. players go through veins of form, people have seen Hackney previously be brilliant and wanted more of it, now after a dip (maybe the whole team in general) he's delivering. Don't see a problem with that.

As far as I can see its all been people wanting him to fulfill his potential.

Not a problem with fans wanting to see him fulfil his potential.

But some of the criticism he received was ridiculously over the top.

He’s a big player for us. He’s still young and he also plays for the England U21s.

Some of the comments on Hackney are laughable.

And I’ll continue to laugh at them.

It's laughable because he wasn't in bad form. He had ONE bad game. He's been playing well all season apart from the Sunderland match and plenty of players were poor that day. Hackney was just more eye catching I think because he was forcing it and losing possession.

Look at @BoroPhil 's post above. That was before last night.
He has been statistically better than Morris in almost every department this season (even prior to this week). Progressive passes, progressive carries, tackles, interceptions, touches on the ball. This isn't a dig at Morris because I think he's been great and they are forming a great partnership in there, but I'm just highlighting the double standards. There's multiple threads about how great Morris has been this season, and there's this one about Hackney where quite a few posters have jumped all over hackney. It's pathetic.

I think Hackney would agree himself that he had an indifferent start to the season. Anyone who knows football can see he is a top player, he suffered with niggling injuries last season which didn’t help him maintain his brilliant form of the previous season. He seems to be getting forward a lot more in the last two games, as others have said on a different thread McGree coming back has helped this, and he has been outstanding. He needed more goals and we are starting to see that, he will be a pivotal player for us and it is easy to forget he is still only 22. I can see this being his best season yet
