Stop with the Carrick out threads

Not Carrick's fault (well, not entirely Carrick's fault - his team selection on Saturday left a lot to be desired) but more the club and Gibson in particular is a large part of that, not backing MC in the transfer market was always going to cause issues, and shows our over-reliance on Giles, Archer and Akpom last season.

Kieran Scott messing about with deals after they'd been agreed causing us to miss out on targets has also been an issue too, as well as problems within the scouting department (I was told yesterday that the member of staff mainly responsible for scouting Lukas Engel has been let go, and was also responsible for us signing Alex Gilbert, a player who is nowhere near the level we need him to be at.)

I don’t want him out but questions do need to be asked of him and i can understand people wanting him out. Yes he hasn’t been dealt the best hand but he also continuously makes weird decisions regarding substitutions and line ups, we also were massively struggling last season defensively and he’s done nothing to improve that. There’s also the problem of the play offs, he got completely outclassed by Mark Robins even though he had players like Akpom, Archer and Giles at his disposal

Every year we do the same: sack the manager..... complete rebuild needed...... and nothing really improves.

The definition of madness is doing the same thing and expecting different results. We can't go round that loop again.

So, instead of "rip it up and start again" again and again, let's do something we've not tried before: being patient, not panicking and staying the course.

Players and teams benefit from a stable environment and we and the club haven't given them one since the AK years.

The ultimate fault lies with whoever decides the strategy!
The club has lost its way….. again!
Woodgate failed the first time (FACT)!
Heads of Football, what‘ve they ever done for us!
Its recruitment`s fault (FACT)!
Its the players fault - they`re on the pitch (FACT)!
Its my dad’s fault for making me go before childline was created!
Jack Robson started the rot!
We should have bought David Cross when we had the chance!
We bought third rate rubbish…… again!
We should be like Brighton who are a well run club.
The team are schit and I’ve been going 50 yrs (happy anniversary to me)

sorted it for you 😉

Edited first line as I don’t think you are allowed to mention a certain someone any longer as yet 2 more threads have been pulled today. I think I mentioned it once, but got away with it.
Coluka out!!!!
Its Rob`s fault!
Its the PR fault.
Its the ticket office!
Its those NFC equipped fingy`s wots causing it.
Its Red Faction`s fault!
Its the fizzy free beer wots causing it!

Back him. He’s been dealt a terrible hand. He’s the right guy for our club. No doubt it’s a big week for him but honestly threads like ‘ 2 games and he’s gone’ just needs to stop. I should be surprised but I’m not. The usual suspect

We’ve got super Michael Carrick.

He will work some magic tomorrow night.
I've never said Carrick Out but it doesn't mean that he can't be criticised for baffling team selections and in game management. McGree not starting and Silvera seeming to be ahead of him in the team is a massive concern to me at the moment.

One point out of six games and flat bottom of the championship.. we’re in a terrible spot and it’s made worse by the highs we enjoyed last season.

Carrick is cool calm and collected, he’s sticking to his guns and he isn’t flinching.. when we’re winning he sounds like Clint Eastwood.. when we’re loosing he sounds like Salad Fingers.

Carrick deserves a get out of jail free card
Last season under Wilder was awful, his football was painful to watch, his 50min press conferences about, me me! me! me! me! and my CV was about as interesting as his style of football.
Then in came Carrick, he calmed the place down, got the players playing with smiles on their faces, and changed our style of football, to a more attacking entertaining style of playing.
Unfortunately, like many teams in the Championship, we lost our best player to a bigger club, and our loan players went to pastures new.
So Carrick now has to start again, with players that are not of the same skill set we enjoyed last season.
Most of these new signings will not be Carricks choices, but he now has to try and produce a winning team/formula with our new squad, this will take time, but Carrick deserves time, and will sort this out.

Par for the course innit. Offer him a lifetime deal when we're flying, show him the door when we're struggling.

I would hate to see Carrick gone at this early juncture. Yeah, things are pap right now, but this is his first sticky spell in the hot seat and we need to accept that he's learning on the job.

I'm trying to view our present muddle as the birth pains of the new recruitment plan, rather than an outright balls up.

I don't think he is danger of being sacked yet, Gibson will stick with him another couple of months But I have seen real improvement in them from the beginning when they were clueless and disjointed against Millwall. Now we are creating very good chances and at some point some of them will start going in
The defence is different our defence needs toughening up and that wont happen untill the two new left backs have had more time under their belt and our right backs come back from injury and maybe Fry and McMair are dropped for a fully fit Clarke.

But if I have a gripe against Carrick (and I do feel the club has put him in a difficult position) then it's the below statement

Agreed, the biggest frustration for me is that he's shoehorning what he has into 'the system' rather than adjusting 'the system' to what he has
we have some really good players, and the teams he is putting out seems to be lesser than what we have, I think until the new players get used to the pass and movement of the system Carrick prefers then it's not a sin to be pragmatic, its probably actually wise because he knows him are the club are in a difficult position and we need to get through it the best way we can without sticking rigidly to a misfiring system.
Personally I think ( I don't know why) we will come good from October.

I think there’s far more chance of him walking due to not being backed than him being sacked. No doubt like most of us MC can accept the way forward the club wants to take regarding purchasing players but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if like me he was expecting a bit more from the loan market than a player from relegated ‘Dirty Leeds’ and another from high flying Nottingham Forest!!

I don’t think he’ll walk.

Plus he has been backed.. to the best of our funding capability.

I see he laughed off the suggestion of signing Reggie Cannon.. I hope that’s doesn’t end up coming back to bite him on his bum!

the next 4 matches will determine his fate - whether thats fair or not.

Sheff Wed is a must not lose although really its a game we should be winning if we are even a mid table side. Southampton is going to be difficult, as will Watford, but then Cardiff at home is another game we should be winning.

I suspect if we havent won one of those 4, and certainly if we have lost all 4, then a decision will have to be taken - maybe its to change some of the coaching staff, maybe bring in someone with more experience but something will happen.

This talk of him not being backed, it doesn’t sit right with me TBH. The club signed 12 new players. Carrick will have known when he took the job that there is a recruitment department, of which he is a part, that decides transfer policy as a collective. He is the Head Coach and his job is to coach the players.

These players people wanted us to sign; Archer went to a Premier League club for £18m, Ramsey went to a Premier League club, Giles went to a Premier League club, Akpom joined one of the biggest clubs on the Continent and will play Champions League football.

Boro just cannot compete with those things. The club appear to want to bring in young players to develop. If Carrick is unhappy with this way of working then he should resign. I think we just need to accept that the days of big money signings are finished for the foreseeable future.

given we have made a £3m transfer surplus he's hardly been backed to the limit of our financial capability has he.

I’m very much Carrick in but Wilder was also a messiah after his first season and as soon as the going got tough people were calling for his head.

We will turn this around I have no doubt.

Mowbray needed Venus
Karanka started with Hignett..
Monk struggled without Pep Clotet

Maybe Carrick will ask for one of his Man Utd pals to join him.. or maybe we bring Steve Round back to the club.

Warnock said they Woodgate needed someone like.. him.. maybe he think the same about Carrick?

Could we see the return of Warnock?
