Still booing the taking the knee

I'll be sounding like a broken record , but feel it still needs calling out
I just clap louder - when I wouldn't even bother if booing didn't occur
Only blemish for me on a great day footballwise

Me my partner and daughter have been going to the games as a family for about 12 seasons.
Meet up with my brother in law and his two daughters.
I enjoy spending time with family, having a few beers , watching my beloved Boro hopefully seeing us win .
Get enough politics thrown at me the rest of the week , don't really care for it on matchday.
And Personally I couldn't give flying f@ck about George Floyd or the BLM movement.

That conflict has been ongoing for 2 years now. Showing our solidarity soon fell by the wayside.

I don't recall seeing any show of support at the Riverside when Yemeni civilians were getting the **** kicked out of them.

The period between 3pm and 5pm on a Saturday afternoon should hold a single focus. We're not Celtic fans ffs.

That's such a daft argument. You can't show solidarity with anything unless you've shown solidarity with everything else that may have happened before that? How long do you go back?

I think (?) I’m like most people.
Let’s ignore social media for a minute or two.

In a conversation, if someone says something I might not agree with or don’t understand and I’m curious enough to want to get to the bottom of it,
I’ll find a way of doing just that.

I will do my best to be polite and respectful when I ask. I do sometimes get that bit wrong and will do my best to put things right. If I get angsty - I don’t feel good about myself.

In the main that works.

I‘m also happy to explain anything at all when treated the same way.

My experience tells me when people behave differently there is little point because they won’t listen and just want an argument.

I’m also acutely aware that anything I believe in could be a million miles away from the truth. It could also, of course, be true.

In summary - my view is those that have responded to my comment have no interest whatsoever in how I’ve formed that view.

If I have that wrong and you, others, really do want to engage - I apologise up front.

So looking back at my original reply how was that impolite or disrespectful toward you. If I didn’t want to listen to your view why did I ask you to explain your post. If you’ve got no interest in replying to me then reply to the other members or do you view him in the same way.

Displaying a Palestinian flag is not an anti war message in itself.
It has long been a symbol against injustice., this new narrative with a very real genocide currently being committed makes it very much an anti war symbol.
The Israeli/Palestinian conflict is a divisive issue with polarised opinions.
Unfortunately that division has become one of pro war and anti-war, pro zionism vs anti muslim.. it is no coincidence that many openly racist folks are siding with Israel in order to get away with their anti Muslim rhetoric.
Save the debate for message boards or the pub, not the Riverside.
If someone wants to bring a palastinian flag to the riverside they should be free to do so.. freedom of expression and the freedom to oppose oppression and genocide are vital components of a developed society.

Talk of ‘terrorist flags’ when describing the Palestinian flag should be shut down at every opportunity.

It’s been creeping in.. racist incidents are increasing.. you’d have to be a moron to not understand what this will lead to.

Unfortunately.. morons.

You mentioned Ukraine, not me. Presumably you would have supported a Star of David flag at the Riverside after 7th October?

and why would you? none of it effects you.

but.. if it doesn’t effect you.. then why would you bring it up?

does it effect you when players and supporters are abusing because of their skin colour? probably not.

should it effect you if players and supporters stopped coming to Middlesbrough because of this?

take out all the black players.. all the ‘foreign’ players.. cut our transfer budget..

does it effect you then?

being associated with racism and hate and idiocy.. does it effect you then?

and what for?

Booooooooooooooo!!! I don’t like anti racist gestures! I don’t want politics rammed down my throat.

BLM was founded on the death and abuse of someone's human rights .
Tell you what let's take the knee to protest and remind people how awful racism is.
Do you honestly think this is going stop someone intent on being racist , being racist.
Even if it does , the human rights issue went out the window as soon as those who took the knee went to Qatar .
Do you honestly believe Henderson went to Saudi to promote a more tolerant culture.

I hope that made sense to you, because it reads as total bolllocks

Don't bother protesting as it isn't changing anything what a good little cap doffer.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Jews with big noses.. that’s what you’re going with us it?
Yes I am. Because there was no outcry on here when Saudi Arabia murdered thousands of Yemeni civilians (Muslims).

And until people on this board can admit that Hamas is evil thats what I'll go with. Tell me it wasn't evil when on October 7th young Israeli women were tortured, raped, had their genitals mutilated, had their breasts cut off and kicked about like a football and then murdered. All at the hands of Hamas.

so you would disagree with somebody who said it was?
Absolutely.

Anyone who says "I don't give a ****" then goes onto try and explain at length why they don't like a very minor, innocuous gesture protesting against it, clearly gives a ****.

You mentioned Ukraine, not me. Presumably you would have supported a Star of David flag at the Riverside after 7th October?

Actually you mentioned Ukraine first.

Wouldn't have a problem with it personally if people wanted to show solidarity with Israel for the events of 7 October

Hiya
Genuine question (not read everything) are there people trying to defend Hamas?
I’m reminded of my Palestinian friends (people I worked with over 15 years ago and am still in touch with)
Getting to know them back then I was keen to get their view of Hamas.

Unanimous view - until they stop, are routed or change their view there is no chance of peace for Palestine. The used your word…… ‘evil’.

BLM was founded on the death and abuse of someone's human rights .
It was many innocent people being shot and killed by police because of their skin colour. The whole movement existed long before the George Floyd murder.
Tell you what let's take the knee to protest and remind people how awful racism is.
It’s a visible anti racist gesture that should not be needed.. but it clearly is.
Do you honestly think this is going stop someone intent on being racist , being racist.
I fully believe that the lack of visibility of an anti racist stance has given racists power and concise and a louder voice where there was not one there before.
Even if it does , the human rights issue went out the window as soon as those who took the knee went to Qatar .
Even if it does.. Qatar. lol.. amazing.. literally couldn’t make it up!
Do you honestly believe Henderson went to Saudi to promote a more tolerant culture.
No one believes that.
