That is really kind of you to say but I really wasn’t comfortable in the role. Everything had remained ‘influenced‘ - perhaps even more than - by MMP and whilst I wanted to bring a fresh ‘anonymity’ to the role, I and my DJ colleague had no chance. My vision was to say less and listen more - give the club a fan driven identity. And I met some amazing fans - 12th Man John and co but at every game something ‘happened’ which at the time I blamed on my inexperience. Looking back now I have to admit I am less convinced of that. Very much so.
Meanwhile John Foster is one of nicest, humble and professional men I have met - he loves what he is doing and loves our community and our Club. That is enough for me - WE are Middlesbrough Football Club.
But tonight my primary thoughts are with the innocents effected by this awful set of crimes. I hope they can begin to heal.

He was charged with five counts of arranging the commission of a child sex offence.

If I were the judge, after I'd delivered the sentence I'd end it with a "bye bye now" as I sent him down.

Should be extradited by the Philippine government and put on trial and put in prison there.

I used to cringe when Me Mark Page took to the microphone at the Riverside, how in hells name was he given the job. He woluld never be missed.

I hated it's rubbish on the mic - spoilt the atmosphere for me. Was really glad when it was away and there was another presenter

It's not about the bloke, he's doing a job he's asked to do in a particular format.
It's why many get an extra pint I would imagine and keep away from their seats as long as possible.

Just back to Page for moment. Reading the Gazette article this morning made me remember Time, that BBC One drama with Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. Absolutely brutal. Page is in for a tough time in prison.

Good sentence that, relatively speaking. Shame he’ll be out in 6.

Yes he will be automatically released at the half way point of the 12 year sentence and subject to a licence in the community for the remainder of his sentence. This licence with have a whole range of restrictions and prohibitions as will his SHPO and sex offender registration.
6 years is a long time for a man of his age and prison is no place for old men with sexual convictions. He'll have a long time to reflect on his behaviour and the harm he's caused to vulnerable children, but given the ego of the man, I wouldn't be surprised if he maintained his innocence and appealed both conviction and sentence.
