How can anyone take the Labour Party seriously any more.

"let's see what happens when the books have to be balanced and unemployment rises..."

Two things:-

1) The claim will rightly be that it would be no different under labour (again Starmer has not opposed any government measures, he's just asked for more)

2) You're hoping for even more people's lives to be destroyed in the hope it gives labour a boost in the polls. Incredibly crass and unbecoming.

Yes, that's a good point. But do I think Labour will be capable of holding the Tories' feet to the fire when it counts?

No, I don't.

HM Opposition hasn't turned up on Brexit, Covid, the Union or anything else really. Instead of turning up the heat on Boris, Labour are busy arguing about anti semitism, the CoE and paying compensation to disgruntled members.

Three years for Keir to get the train on the tracks. I'm not very hopeful.

How do you know what I’m hoping for?

Labour will get elected if they offer enough people more hope for the future than the Tories in four years time.

Johnson would not be in power now if Corbyn had run a better campaign with a commitment to a clean Brexit.

I agree remind me who briefed against Corbyns' brexit plans? Oh the current leader of the opposition. Cool .

Four years to the next election, a long way to go and there will be no single big issue like Brexit for the Tories to hang onto, let’s wait and see.

The Tories have spent the last year or so putting hundreds of billions into peoples pockets through business loans (given out with a lucky bag), the furlough scheme (millions of low incomes on paid holidays or able to also do another job), PM instruction to work from home (allowing millions to avoid the 2 hours of commute in the traffic jam or the packed train), and the Covid policy built around protecting the Tory core over 65’s vote.

Why does anybody think Labour should be 15% ahead?

Johnson should be 20% ahead with the taxpayers money he has spent.

Let‘s see what happens when the books have to be balanced and the unemployment rises...
Yet still Starmer has never offered any alternatives to the schemes etc, & people are aware that it will have to be paid for , out of interest ...what would labour of done RE furlough etc ?

Covid has done no damage to the Tories because there's been no real opposition. You really need to get out of your bubble, people on the right hate what Boris has done but think Starmer just wants more restrictions which people are flat out against.
Once a day click on a daily mail article related to covid and click on the comments. People want to go back to normality, this forum is simply not a reflection of normal people.

100% this board is in the main abnormal on most things. It quite strange reading comments from the wider public and then coming on here. It's like two different worlds.

Both have been recommended to Starmer in a 234-page document authored by his Chief External Officer, as detailed in your post #3 on this thread.
I wish this were fantastical nonsense, but such is today’s Opposition party.
The thought that people want to go back to the era of strikes and flying pickets is utterly preposterous

Who knows? We have a Tory government just now.

They like to think they are prudent with taxpayers money.

He certainly needs to up his game big time

The Trussell Trust started providing food bank services in 2000 under a Labour government

And the Tories have done what to stop the use exactly?

Those figures above show that it has got worse beyond belief under Tory governance

Even the Trussell Trust said this was down to Tory policy on 2017
