How can anyone take the Labour Party seriously any more.

Four election defeats and they come out with rubbish like this.

Wholesale changes needed to get back those votes. Out of touch doesn’t cut it.
The Labour party needs to cut out the cancer of a self destructive right wing element to stand any chance of survival. tbh, I think the damage is beyond repair.

  • The abolition of trade union laws, which would lead to the return of flying pickets and general strikes;
  • The disestablishment of the Church of England;
  • The House of Lords to be abolished and replaced by ‘the Senate of Nations and Regions’;
  • Restrictions on Britain’s ability to declare war by requiring military activity to pass a vote in both houses of Parliament;
  • Abolition of ‘all of the trappings and add-ons of the Monarchy’.
Some reasonably sensible ideas there. For the many, not the few.

I can't see the word 'woke' anywhere.

I’d say the majority of the British population would be fundamentally opposed to all 5 of those bullet points - would lead to another embarrassment at the polls.

They would be better off focusing their attention on reclaiming the lost red wall seats. Reconnecting with their core support in the Labour heartlands should be number one priority because without them they are doomed to eternal opposition.

2 million people in those heartlands who voted Tory had never voted for anyone in their lives before. They'll not bother to vote next time.

You had better be correct because the stronghold that was Scotland has evaporated down to one seat. Wales is on the decline and the traditional English Labour heartlands preferred coco the clown and his circus to what Corbyn and co had to offer. It’s only a couple of weeks since the left were up in arms over the leader of the British Labour Party having the temerity to stand next to a British flag. It might be an idea to tune into to it’s working class voters rather than its middle class membership because they are the people who put you in Parliament. Or not as was shown in December 2019.

A long way to go until the next election. There are huge hurdles for the Tories to get over with an economy that is in utter tatters due to their incompetence and covid. If they manage to get it going again and deal with the Brexit issues that are currently huge then they'll win comfortably again- however it won't be 80 seats. It'll more than likely be a Labour/Lib/SNP coalition if the economy completely tanks and they get it wrong with taxation and spending over the next couple of years.

Covid has done no damage to the Tories because there's been no real opposition. You really need to get out of your bubble, people on the right hate what Boris has done but think Starmer just wants more restrictions which people are flat out against.
Once a day click on a daily mail article related to covid and click on the comments. People want to go back to normality, this forum is simply not a reflection of normal people.

Who's banking? Brexits done.

It is and any form of narrative from the tories that suggests that labour may look to over turn (wether true or false) will see them come out to vote again. Labour should be trying to win them votes rather than hope they don’t turn up.

100% This.

And to try and win more than a seat in Scotland. SNO have nuked them.

But the Daily Mail is a reflection of normality?

If it is, anything we say or do is just hot air.

"People want to go back to normality" no shidt! Who'd a thunk, etc. 🤦‍♂️

That says it all really. Can't see why good people bother to work for change for the many rather than increase the £billions for the 1%.
There are plenty of ways Labour could work for the many not the few without lazy hard left crank moves like abolishing the church, monarchy or paying reparations to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

It’s just the core of the Labour Party are too unimaginative to come up with sensible policies. And they’ll pay the price.
