Glastonbury - the future

the demographic has definitely change sadly from the times of new age travellers and alternative lifestyles who simply cant afford to go now, to middleclass middle age, listening to middle of the road dirge.
Exactly, and it has changed from the early nineties where the festival was attended by thousands of working class kids on lesser means.

In 1992 Carter USM headlined and cost £20,000. Now healine acts are paid millions.

Who pays for this? Its not the travellers and working class people, and minorities who cant afford the lavish sums, its the middles class types who can.

Glastonbury has become in respects a monocultural monied ghetto. Lot of clucking and virtue signailling about diversity, but truly diverse Glastonbury isn't.

Charity? Fundraising? The Avon and Somerset police earn more than charities off this, as do Macca and the Billies kerchinging to their banks ..

On the subject of Springsteen (sorry to do a Boss sidetrack), is he ever going to announce his UK dates? Wonder what the issue is. That being said, if he is on at Glastonbury I might try and get tickets.

I think Dave might not be far off headlining bearing in mind Stormzy did.

I assumed he wasn’t coming to UK, but just saw this on his website -

“Additional cities and shows in the UK and Belgium will be announced at a later date.”

Great news 👍🏻

Hopefully not just London. Think I saw him in Glasgow last time

Worth noting that next years headliners have already been booked. I'm certain Dua Lipa pulled out of headlining The Other this year as she's headlining the Pyramind next year.

Quite a few incidents of repeat headliners. Coldplay, Blur, The Killers, Muse, McCartney, REM, Pulp.
Appreciate that but with all respect to the AMs the others have a much better back catalogue and one thats stood the test of time.

I was wondering the same. It seems odd that he has announced a full European tour but left out the UK, despite saying dates are to follow. There arent many particularly big gaps in the announced tour either and if you assume he is only going to play stadiums, that will only really happen until mid June at the latest, and most of those dates are already taken
