Glastonbury 2023

I don't get the Guns n Roses as a headline act to be honest.

They are well known for being unreliable and quite frankly just don't deserve that slot.

Can't argue with the two other headliners though.
A common misconception based on behaviour in the past. They are massively professional these days since they got back to the original line up.

Bang on time every time these days and put on a decent show which lasts about 3 hours.

Very much something for everyone there.
Not a bad line up really. Would love to see The War on Drugs, Hot Chip and yes, Texas live.
Early line up and as always there will be moaning about the line up, can never please everyone but there is so many stages and so much variety always find something, or end up finding that unexpected gem never listened to before.

Could have the time of your life there without seeing a single band though.

My favourite place on earth.

My first time last year and the card was stacked. I spent a lot of my time running between stages (and had an amazing time doing so) but there were so many other things i could've been doing if i wasn't watching music. It really is a special place.

I've never been, seen plenty of it on TV though but granted that's probably not the same 'experience'. You are spot on though. People will always find something to moan about unless it's a tailor made lineup for them.

The moaners are usually those who don’t go.
In reality you do get a tailor made line up - hundreds to choose from and you pick
Loads, on their first visit, blast from stage to stage. Understandable but, as Humpty said, there is much more to pack in.

Heard of him? He's a superstar DJ man! You might need to be a House Head in reality I suppose.

I know about 20 of those listed. Some are great others are Lewis Capaldi!
Yeah i was being flippant, i've heard of him but im not a fan of his music. I was just noting the artists i'd actually heard of.

Agree with the earlier Spotify comment. Gone are my days of listening to a carefully curated playlist in the car thanks to Spotify recommendations. Probably not the widest choice on here but any means, but when you listen to 70's, 80's, 90's playlists covering rock, punk, grunge, trip hop, electronic etc then you certainly get some leftfield songs thrown your way.

My mate from work, saw them live last year at spurs new stadium, said the vocals were quiet, and axl struggled for most of the set.

There's a comparison on youtube of them singing Paradise city live both in 1989 & 2022 it's like chalk and cheese, but no wonder, Axl was 27 in 1989 and his voice over the years has took some hammering.... Yes it's still Guns & Roses but it's not the same band as it once was.

Age comes to us all. Voices deteriorate. Guitar playing less so. Nice to see Sparks in the line up andIi see a double legend slot for Cat Stevens and Blondie. I am sure Blondie isn’t the same as she was in her twenties. 😃

This is the first time I've seen a Glastonbury line up where I think it would be worth going to for the music. I hate festivals tho so never bother trying for a ticket.

I stopped listening to new stuff about 5 years ago. Just lost interest. This really really depressed me. Music used to be what I lived for. I feel as though I'm losing all of my passions as I get older.

I can’t get enough of finding new bands and groups to be honest. Most of it doesn’t really stick but when something new hits you, and you start seeking out their other stuff and looking for gigs, it’s absolutely f*cking great.

I don’t know some of those people on the Glastonbury flyer but that’s part of going, I would imagine. Meeting new people and hearing new bands, shared experiences etc. I mean, people are moaning about Elton John. Well, you don’t need to watch it. Go to a different stage and watch the woman from Peru playing a guitar made out of dead foxes and bear snot. That’s the point.

And to be fair, Elton John would be a great show. He’ll do two hours of hits that you’ll know as soon as he hits the opening keys. He’ll play Your Song and you’ll have an out of body experience, feeling emotions you didn’t know were possible, and tingles in parts of your spine you’ve never before felt.

Guns & Roses, Arctic Monkeys, meh. Just go and see someone or something else. Who cares. Let’s just crack on and enjoy as much as we can.

I'm middle aged, going to glasto and listen to new music all of the time. I always think what if I haven't already heard my favorite song.

Looking forward to those I haven't seen like Lana Del Rey, Fred Again and others I have seen like war on drugs and hot chip. Not too bothered about the headliners. There's always something for everyone at glasto.

There's nothing quite like going to glasto the first time. The scale of the place is mind blowing. When we pitched up and had a look around the first thought was "there's no way I'm seeing all those bands I'd planned to"...

Still had one of the best weekends of my life tho.
