Glastonbury 2023

This is the first time I've seen a Glastonbury line up where I think it would be worth going to for the music. I hate festivals tho so never bother trying for a ticket.

I stopped listening to new stuff about 5 years ago. Just lost interest. This really really depressed me. Music used to be what I lived for. I feel as though I'm losing all of my passions as I get older.
Nooooooo, don't let them go. I think new music is one of the main things that keeps you young. I go to gigs and my mates say 'bet we're the oldest in here'. As I'm the oldest out of us that makes me the oldest and I don't give it a second thought.
Go back to your favorite bands and find a modern comparison.

Heard a song recently which sounded like the clash, razorlight and the doobie brothers.
CVC - good morning Vietnam.

Ditto, Marc Rileys 6music show is an excellent source for new stuff. Found so much out through listening to him.

I always check out decent record store webpages on Fridays (resident is a good one) which can turn you on to some new stuff.

Finally I can't recommend allmusic enough. Basically a database of all music released, sortable by year with ratings for each release. I personally find them spot on (i.e. a five star record is usually excellent).

West Holts announced.

Devestated Kelis is headlining. I'll be elsewhere. Was really hoping to see her further down somewehre else.

Little surprised BCNR on that stage? Maybe doing multiple sets to be fair. Young Fathers would be on my list and probably Beth Orton. (y)

Actually just realised I can't do my usual "sit in front of iplayer all weekend" schtick as we're on holiday. Plenty to get through when I get back!

There is at least one sensitive soul on here who couldn’t get a ticket and would want to see some of that.

BTW - heard of an artist called REN - worth reading about (awful turn of events) and listening too.

Agree with all of that. Always on the look out for next great band/track.
That CVC single is good.

That's a great festival line up right there.

Not going this year but I (hope) I'm not done with the place yet. Next year please oh mighty gods of the ticket lottery.
Indeed theres some great acts on that stage alone. Far From Saints being Kelly Jones side project.

Ren is amazing.

I'm familiar with over 30 of those acts. To me it looks far too heavily weighted towards heritage acts.

But I'm sure there'll be at least one or two performances across the festival that switch me onto something new.
I look forward to Fever Ray most of all out of that lot. I'm a big fan of this

I think it's a slight down grade on previous years but there's still plenty there. Avalon is a great area to hang out in if you've got a few spare hours. I'll be getting down to see Freya Riding clashes permitting.

@borolad259 REN is superbly talented. Hope he really takes off once he's back in the UK and his treatment is finished.

We haven’t seen the whole line up yet but I think it’s a good match on last year already. See that Katy Pearson is returning. Saw her last year and she was excellent.

To be honest i don't think it's going to hold a candle to last year, at least not for my tastes. As ever though there'll always be something for everyone.

All about musical tastes but I’ve put a circle around the names of more bands than last year but thing is if there are less “headline material” around gives the opportunity to get out to see the newer stuff.

Just noticed Lottery Winners on that bill.
The antithesis of getting lucky quick.

They played my sister in laws wedding in Cumbria around 10 years ago.
Worked their nuts off since playing gigs up and down he country.

Pleased its worked out for theM.
