Glastonbury 2023

I'm getting old, I could only name a song from 10 of the artists named.

View attachment 53922
Arctic Monkeys - excellent back catalogue, new stuff is crap
Guns N Roses - know about 3 songs, would be a great live show/set though i bet
Elton John - see above
Lizzo - know 1 song, not for me
Fatboy slim - Heard of him, probably recognise a few songs
Lana del rey - see above
Lewis capaldi - see above
Maneskin - know 2 songs
MSP - know 2,3 songs and were crap at the Riverside
Texas - see Fatboy slim

It's more about the whole event from what i hear from people who have been and attend regularly, i'd love to go to one to say i'd been but yeah just for the music nah not for me but im sure there'll be people looking at the line up absolutely buzzing and they'd look at my spotify playlist and say its full of crap.

This is the smallest line up they've announced for the first poster drop in recent times. There are a LOT more to come. Not a bad first pass and very much looking forward to it.

I read a stat once that said 33 is the average age when you stop listening to new music. I know that sounds about right for me. The majority of things I listen to is old stuff or new stuff from old favourites. If I listen to the radio it is one that caters to my tastes. When I was younger I used to hear new music on Radio 1, in other people's cars or in clubs etc. but not necessarily like them but at least they were recognisable. Now I don't even hear that new music so I don't recognise loads of those names.

AM, Elton, Lizzo, Alt-J, Blondie, Candi Staton, Carly Rae Jepson, Christine and the Queens, Chvrches, Fatboy Slim, Fred Again.. Hot Chip, Kelis, Lana Del Ray, Leftfield, Loyle Carner, Manics, Royal Blood, Rudimental, Texas, War on Drugs and Cat Stevens are all a bit of me

This is what makes Spotify so good. I listen to bands I know - many of whom split up years ago - and then based on my history it recommends music I really like from bands I probably never would have heard of otherwise.

Not sure it's as bad as is being made out on socials this morning. Saw Elton last year (was excellent), not a fan of GnR but I'm sure it will be a "show". Arctics probably up there with any band in the world at the moment.

On the undercard Lana will be sublime (rumoured Other Stage headliner), The War on Drugs are great live, ditto Phoenix and Sparks.

Actually saw Candi Staton there years back, leathered on brothers festival strength cider (EDIT: me, not her) in the JazzWorld field. Absolutely loved it.

I'm right at the back somewhere :)

I'm 28 and I've found two new bands I enjoy in the last 5 years. It's a struggle haha

I don't get the Guns n Roses as a headline act to be honest.

They are well known for being unreliable and quite frankly just don't deserve that slot.

Can't argue with the two other headliners though.
