From the outside looking in we are an absolute shambles

(Trying to convince yourself)
Nah mate, we've got money to invest now, Gibson has always come through with the investment, he isn't going to change the habit of 30 years just to fit with your pessimist view of the world. I reckon there will be a couple of big signings by championship standards coming in, and some great investment in younger prospective stars and a minimum of 6 new players before the window closes.

Put your TENA pants on, and relax buddy

If another championship club sign Gyokeres, I would be gutted
I'm not sure many other champ clubs could, Watford could, Norwich have never paid over 10m, West Brom have paid those fees when in the prem, but have spent their parachute money Dike is the one they went with. Unless another champ club makes a big sale, they can't afford Coventrys asking price.

Its lack of numbers we have only 14 or so pros so we need to sign at least 5 or 6 yes we have money but we are exceedingly slow at getting people through the door
See I dunno - we’re well short now, and tend to do some business late which makes us seem exceedingly slow. But we were quick on bringing in Lenihan, who’s quality, and Steffen, who should be one of the best keepers in the league.

The striker situation is seriously worrying given that the season starts on Saturday but I’d hope we’re not compromising on our top targets and we’re just waiting for the dominoes to fall. It’s not like we’ve brought nobody in, each signing so far will hopefully be a proper upgrade.

OI was thinking about him the other day, wondering if he was a realistic target, his career has really stalled
He's on £96k a week apparently.

I'm sure it is this sort of thing that ruins players like him, Rodwell, Ali that lad years ago at Man City (Johnson?)

I wouldn't have it in myself to go out, be disciplined, take on board what some old fella was saying knuckle down etc. if I had signed a six year £100k a week contract.

Injuries ruined Michael Johnson, could’ve been a really good player. Don’t forget anyone for sat needs to sign by Friday to be registered so they’ve got today or we’re going with Coburn and Watmore with Akpom on bench.

Well we can all rest easy because BoroMart “reckons”.

Everyone who disagrees needs nappies.

Best wishes in the future with that attitude 👍🤪

Right back at you mate, it's all a mess, the sky is falling in, and we're all doomed because fassy "reckons"

Everyone who disagrees has their head in the sand.

Best wishes with that attitude in the future.

Fact is there are still 5 weeks of the transfer market to go, if we are still in this position then, well, yes, I'll have a problem then, but a) thinking everything is a disaster, and b) stating nothing will change significantly because we won't spend any significant money, really is bedwetting. You are jumping the gun, plenty of clubs are going into saturday without anywhere near a completed squad. I mean look at Burnley, they've lost Pope, Collins, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters and Bardsley. That's an experienced premier league back 5 and keeper.

They've signed.......a Man City U23 keeper, a CB from Oxford, and two City U23 CBs, that's 76 games in english football between those 4 players....and no full backs.

Far worse position than us.

Huddersfield, lost their best 2 players, not replaced them.

Loads of teams are struggling to fill

Yes the season starts in 2 days but the window is open for another month. It's a daft situation it should close when the season starts but as the cliche goes 'It is what it is'. It's not just us, loads of clubs will be wanting to do deals but while the end of the window is some way away activity is slow. Selling clubs are holding out for more money, Buying clubs are trying to pay less and players are waiting to see if they might get a better offer. There is no urgency at the moment. By the time it get's to the final week it will all go crazy especially on the final day. It means that we might have to play half a dozen games before we get all the bodies in that we need but we aren't the only ones in this particular boat. We just need to be patient and reserve judgement until the squad is finalised.
