From the outside looking in we are an absolute shambles

It's the same every season. Dont worry theres a month left, dont worry theres 2 weeks left, dont worry theres 5 days left.

Deadline comes Ooops we are 2 or 3 short. We are atrocious when it comes to signing players. The amount we have wasted is shocking and the number of times we leave our selves short is ridiculous.
difference this time is we've brought money in, and have ffp room, to push those transfers through, even if late int the day

It’s a little frustrating but I truly believe we will be the envy of a lot of champo clubs by the time our business is done, rather than a laughing stick I think we will be praised by many for the blend of experience and youth we bring in. This will be one of our better seasons I’m sure!

Right back at you mate, it's all a mess, the sky is falling in, and we're all doomed because fassy "reckons"

Everyone who disagrees has their head in the sand.

Best wishes with that attitude in the future.

Fact is there are still 5 weeks of the transfer market to go, if we are still in this position then, well, yes, I'll have a problem then, but a) thinking everything is a disaster, and b) stating nothing will change significantly because we won't spend any significant money, really is bedwetting. You are jumping the gun, plenty of clubs are going into saturday without anywhere near a completed squad. I mean look at Burnley, they've lost Pope, Collins, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters and Bardsley. That's an experienced premier league back 5 and keeper.

They've signed.......a Man City U23 keeper, a CB from Oxford, and two City U23 CBs, that's 76 games in english football between those 4 players....and no full backs.

Far worse position than us.

Huddersfield, lost their best 2 players, not replaced them.

Loads of teams are struggling to fill
Looks like good scouting by Burnley up to now.

I think the key difference is tav was key to wilders system ( he was the legs in the middle) so losing him was a huge blow and he couldn’t really fill this gap

But carrick has never had tav so he’s never missed him so he designed a team that never included tav instead choosing to to use hackney as a perfect mf fulcrum to complement the older heads.

Yes good post. I think at the time I thought McGree would end up better than Tav. I don’t think that’s happened yet but I still think it’s a possibility. Wilder made Tav into a kind of Robbie Mustoe player, I don’t know if Bournemouth are using him like that.

My post was on the 28th of July and was pointing out that we (and many other clubs like Burnley) hadn't finished their business.

Burnley after the 28th signed:
Beyer, Conner Roberts, Vitinho to sort out the gaps in their defence. The gamble on players that hadn't played at this level has worked for them though.

Gamble perhaps but I bet Kompany had pretty strong intel/ knowledge of how good Benson, Zaroury and Cullen were - the former two from the Juniper A League

Well Zaroury signed after the date, but yes of course he will have known quite a bit about them, but talented players don't always adapt to the championship, we've seen that plenty of times in the past. Kompany is starting to make a name for himself as a manager, which is good, he seems one of lifes good guys, and to have a black prem manager is a big move forward, I believe there have only been 8 permenant prem managers before.
