European Super League to be announced tonight - 9:30pm

I believe only one of the 6, Spurs, are owned by a British owner. The rest? US, Russian, MIDDLE EAST. They have no loyalty to the fans and are motivated by getting more money.Sod the lot of them, no regard for the history of these clubs. Foreign ownership at its worst

I don't want to keep paying footballers ridiculous fees either. But if you think it won't significantly harm the rest of us, it will.

It's a bit odd that you think that Man Utd deserve to ask for more money, yet big earning footballers deserve less. So you want foreign billionaire owners to make more profit from football, fair play to you if you think that is good, but I think that's an absolute joke of a stance.
No, you’re right. I’ve not made myself very clear. I think those that are putting on the show deserve the credit (or £). Man Utd if they could sell their tv rights individually like in Spain they would absolutely coin it in. Of course there billionaire American owners would prefer that.
As with the Boro paying ridiculous wages, I would rather the money in the game went to the players and not some schyster owner. But we pay way over the odds due to a benevolent owner.
Would lower player wages be such a bad thing if it meant lower ticket prices?

in the end I want to go to the match with my lad in a safe environment. That comes with costs, granted. But football to me is about being there, experience with friends and family.

they can only do this outside of the current structure and that will have significant issues for them and the rest of us.

It will all get negotiated, European super league with the blessing of UEFA, 2 tier Premier League with no relegation/promotion to/from the EFL (or extremely limited with a number of conditions required) and premier league reserve sides in the lower leagues, which will have the old third division as the top flight and regionalised below that.

More money and power to the clubs has been the end game since the investors started getting involved, specifically the US professional sport investors. We can’t fight it, it will happen at some point.

There‘ll be a global league at some point. Bit like Rollerball.

Would be the death of football. If this thread alone can be used to gauge the appeal of this league, would anyone want to watch it? It doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest!
I agree, this week I haven’t watched City v Dortmund or Chelsea v whoever it was, as I don’t have BT. Don’t care.

watched the Boro and we were wretched. But I’ll watch us next week and can’t wait to go back to the Riverside. I don’t see it as being the death of Football

I don't think it will. This is a clear effort to apply a US style closed system, it's simply culturally not going to work the way they think

We've all been spoiled the last 30 years, so I think watching League One cloggers unable to play any sort of football would harm the game.

The issue is our league will be fighting for advertising revenue against the european super league. and that will cost us.

Maybe this is the catalyst to get the power back to the fans, for too long it's gone to the elitist players and elitist clubs.

I quite like the sound of it. Football has been all about the money for years - they don't care about the fans!

It might be great for us. We might even get promoted next year with 6 less teams in the Premier League! :D

Yes get shot of them. Vile clubs only interested in lining their own pockets, couldn’t give a damn about anyone but themselves.

Let’s not forget Liverpool furloughed their support staff in a heartbeat at the start of lockdown. What a horrible club they are.

If we were in the position of joining the league, could you see yourselfs as fans going to away games?
I couldnt spend that much flying around europe, cant even travel around england.
You wouldn’t need to. It’s gonna be beamed in to your brain for the fully immersive experience via space lasers
