England Team for the Euros

Rashford shouldn't even be in the discussion.

That left spot should be out of Grealish/Foden. Rashford isn't fit enough to lace either of their boots.

I do think only the left spot is up for grabs at the moment as well.

Kane is obviously nailed for #9
Sake has that RW spot
Jude should be starting as the #10, or a very aggressive #8....leaving LW spot open for Foden/Grealish. And it would depend on the opposition who I'd play out.

I wouldn't be against dropping Jude to a #8, alongside Rice, and playing Foden as the #10 with Grealish LW. Jude is that good he can play any of the spots in the centre.

We are blessed with enormous amount of top class attacking talent. To leave someone like Maddison out shows how deep our squad is now.

If Southgate does opt for Jude as the #10...then I pray he doesn't partner Rice with Phillips or Gallagher or Henderson. All of them aren't good enough. Phillips shouldn't be in the squad purely based on the lack of games at club level (never mind the fact he's not good enough as well), Gallagher wouldn't be getting in if he didn't play for Chelsea - who have been nothing short of rubbish (for their high standards) for the best part of two seasons. And well, Henderson...the less said, the better.

Won't happen but I'd love to see Stones and Rice partnered together. Stones was outstanding playing the DM role for City last season.

Dunk and Guehi doesn't seem that strong a pairing in central defence but the defence would be well protected, having Rice and Stones as the sitters in midfield. You'd have to think we would be able to control the midfield.

Pickford

Walker
Dunk
Guehi
Shaw

Stones
Rice

Saka
Bellingham
Foden

Kane

He has done in the past though and can comfortably play there in this England side and is a goal threat. Grealish isn’t even getting a regular game for city just now. I fancy Sterling to make a big claim too, he’s started the season very well for Chelsea but is being overlooked.

Agree with you on Rashford. I’d rank him the lowest out of all the names on the list.

It's pretty easy to make a legitimate case for any of them to play every game or be bench warming to be honest.

I agree that Rashford isn't on it right now and Sterling is. Grealish infuriates me, holds on to the ball too long, takes too long to decide what he is gong to do. Pointless winning 20 free kicks in non-dangerous positions and trying to lob it in the mixer against top quality international teams. He needs to get back to driving at Full backs with pace instead of checking inside then rolling it back to the CBs.

Foden for me is the highest quality footballer of those 4, but as said he rarely plays on the left.

For all the talk of greatest ever england squad, there are still several problem positions:
- No one has nailed down that LW spot.
- Alongside Rice is still up for grabs too, Philips needs to leave City and get game time and make that spot his own.
- LB, Shaw and Chillwell are never fit, we end up with a CB or RB playing there quite a lot
- Alongside Stones at CB, Maguire & Stones partnership for the last 4 years has starved opportunities for others, Dunk looks the one most likely to challenge but his international and european experience is really low. He's played 4 times against non-English sides.

Id like to see that happen in the 'right game', it could be wonderful, or leave us open, but unless we try it, we don't know.

Would put a lot of pressure on Rice when we are counter-attacked. At the same time, you wouldn't think there are many teams that would commit forward with the pace of Saka, the power of Kane, the intelligence of Foden and the skill of Grealish 1-vs-1.....with Bellingham bursting forward to support. Mouthwatering.

Wondered this myself, again, wouldn't mind seeing this against weaker teams, and it gets more caps and experience into those CBs

Why is Sterling now in the conversation?

He's been terrible for Chelsea for well over a year other than 2 good performances against 2 of the 3 worst teams in the league.

He shouldn't be in the squad, let alone in the discussion for a starting spot.

There's a lot of players who are more deserving of a space in the squad ahead of Sterling.

as its Southgate... if we make it ( I can see us losing to Italy tomorrow )

....................Pickford,
Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw
Henderson, Rice, Bellingham
.........Saka, Kane Sterling

I'd go with:
..................Ramsdale
Walker, Stones, Dunk, Colwill
..................Rice, JWP
Saka, ......Bellingam, .....Foden
......................Kane

Sterling won’t be starting he’s not in the squad

I think he will continue his good form this season and be ahead of Rashford in the pecking order. Whether that’s enough for Southgate to recall him remains to be seen. I wouldn’t write him off though.

Gareth will look to bring Sterling back no doubt out about that but as fir the side swap sterling for rashford and Henderson for Phillips snd I don’t think you’ll be far off.

It's possible, but I'd be surprised. They lack goals and experience. Just 2 players with 40+ caps, no one with 10 international goals. They will of course be competitive, combatitive and master of the dark arts. They could sneak a 1-0, but I'd be more expectant of a 2-1 to us

I honestly think Garreth has the starting 11 in his head and he’ll do all he can to play it regardless of form.
