Disabled supporters assistants made to use black season card

I just wondered which of his many objectionable characteristics you think led to the decision of a black card.

Like I said, there's plenty of them. Not really sure why you would want to pin me down to just one.

I think we should all press pause and step back from this thread. It is heading towards some really dark waters for all sorts of reasons and could be exceptionally damaging to lots of groups of people.

If there are 1000 helpers I'd much prefer the club to view it as they're assisting 1000 people to go to a game who otherwise couldn't go, so they're actually gaining additional ticket sales.. They've also then got 2000 extra people buying a range of food, drink, programmes and merchandise.

When the club is not selling out, it's not losing money by helpers having access to the stadium been in any way.

It’s a good point, hardly like we are selling out every game either. If Gibson has said carers are factor in increasing prices then I think he needs to be asked more questions about this.

The guidance says clearly that free entry for the helper is a reasonable adjustment under the DDA.

If you read the introduction though the "guidance" is to ensure compliance with DDA and as it states it's a reasonable adjustment, it's safe to say the club would probably need a strong argument for not doing so.

I'm not embarrassed for a single second about how I spend any of my time, but none of my time is spent in bed trying to look up peoples profiles and shame them for how much time they spend on a website that I also use. What a weird little bloke you are.

I have asked a senior Middlesbrough official face to face and this is totally untrue. The disabled season card is a season card. The assistant's card is an access card, it is not a season card but it is not black.
Sounds like a X/twitter urban myth.
Secondly this process has all been carried out with the approval of Level Playing Fields the body that campaigns on behalf of disabled sports fans.
Middlesbrough have a Disabled Liaison Officer, (with a PA) she herself has disabilities and brings that very real experience, knowledge and understanding to the role. There have been many subtle changes behind the scenes thanks to Rosemary the DLO, subtle to us but game changers to wheelchair users etc.
But the black card is completely untrue and is the kind of myth that could be very upsetting to disabled fans. So lets knock it on the head right now.

It's not a myth I've just returned home from a week away and my black disabled card was waiting for me. This is disgusting. The practice from the club alone is abhorrent. This also a very patronising lie!!!! It's not the first time I've had things like this. One time I tried to use the door instead of turnstile, which 9/10 the stewards use it as a way of getting people in easier. On this one occasion there was a steward who refused to scan my card and asked me if I'm disabled or not in front of quite alot of people. I told him that he had no right to ask me that and it's none of his buisness.
