Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

As I’ve said many times in the past this is coming for every aspect of our lives if we allow it. Won’t be long before you’re required to scan into shops, cinemas, concerts, literally everywhere - been telling everyone for years this was coming and I’ve been laughed at an called a conspiracy theorist, well here we are at the beginning of it all folks

The only part of your post I agree with is that the club will eventually make everyone moving over to digital ticketing to be a term of entry, but it will be after a fair old lengthy transition period. It might take a couple of seasons to finally convince everyone to move across or where the club can no longer justify having the two systems of entry in operation as so few are still clinging to the traditional season card.
It uses the same machine as the digital. So why change you can have both at the same time.

Thanks to fmttm I have sorted my digital ticket as I needed a new one due to becoming a OAP, never had any communications at all from MFC to say that I was going digital and not getting a season ticket,
Went to the ground early in the week to see if my app would work, as I have never used my phone for the likes of this. All sorted at the open day I knew nothing about until I got there.
Now I have found out that I now need a voucher to get my Chairman's Drink which I should have received in the post.
So now I have to remember my phone and voucher. This to me makes the phone app pointless.

I'm sure they'll be doing something for the catering side as it gets rolled out

My son checked his MFC account to find a digital ticket in there. No notification this was going to happen and no drinks voucher in the post ?

Just got this reply by email.

Its already been sent out, if you don’t receive it then come to the ticket office and we will reprint your voucher.

What about my free drink?
We won't be activating the free drink to the digital season card for our first game against Millwall, as we want to ensure supporters are comfortable entering the stadium with the technology first. Therefore, we have enclosed a free drink paper ticket within this letter for you to use. Please hand this ticket to the staff member behind the till who will be able to process your free drink.

Still can’t “forward” my ticket to a family member for Saturday. Anyone else had this issue? I’ve emailed the club.

Well if you go with the security argument (which I don’t really as I think it is spurious at our level, maybe at the football tourist end of the EPL and for high value concert tickets there are issues with QR codes but not for the Championship) then there’s a fairly trivial reason. You don’t invest in a more secure system and then continue to use the less secure one as well, as that leaves you no more secure.

Why not **** up a load of money against the wall on a system that already works and annoys a large portion of the fan base and use the money on investing on the team.

How much do you reckon we have spunked on this?

There are some aspects of this which are more convenient for those of us who don’t live in Teesside. Appreciate the need for all options though.

You already had to give your details to get a ticket, what difference does it make if the ticket is digital?

Maybe less than the cost of printing and posting out 20,000 tickets. Or maybe there's a 3 year payback.

I spoke to the ticket office earlier. This feature hasn't been set up yet so they have printed out tickets for me to go and collect.
So you the customer is the one to be put through an inconvenience because of their inability to run the system ready for the new season. Typical Boro incompetence.

Ha so it’s not set up for anyone? Great. You’d have thought in the FAQ section they could have added a line about this, even temporarily.
