Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

They should have included details about this when they released the early bird season tkt offer. Then you could have made the choice whether it would put you off buying a season tkt. Acceptable for it to be enforced if this had been the case but it wasn't. So they should have waited until the next season to bring it in.

Just checked today with Tesco Mobile staff and a smartphone to purchase that runs NFC is a minimum price of £149, currently. All the cheaper phones don't run it I was told. The Club appears pushing fans towards this technology when this technology has an extra cost to a number of fans. I would have been OK if the default option was a physical card still for this season with opt out options for fans wanting to go fully digital . Also the Club should not be telling fans they can easily buy a relevant phone for £35.

Maybe less than the cost of printing and posting out 20,000 tickets. Or maybe there's a 3 year payback.
Incorrect, 20,000k new cards are not sent out. The practice last season was to use last seasons card, thus keeping down postage costs, the carbon footprint etc.

There are some aspects of this which are more convenient for those of us who don’t live in Teesside. Appreciate the need for all options though.
442 magazine “over 82 percent are middlebrough season ticket holders live within 7miles of the stadium”.

This would suggest 18 percent of fans are from outside the TS post code area.

Yeah, 1 in 5 is quite a few mate. Several thousand.

I bet 82%+ have a smartphone as well.

I live 8 miles away from the stadium, and I'm in Redcar, so that figure would exclude quite a few who live on Teesside.

It is an absolute disgrace, you pay £500 for a season ticket, which is hard is the current economic climate with interest rate going through the roof, hyperinflation etc and on top you are treating you a large section of your fan base with disdain.

Slash 21000k ticket holder in half with the way fans are being treated.

Newcastle are at it as well if you want to let somebody use your season ticket the recipient needs to get the app that costs £37. Pure greed.

People don’t how to protest anymore, happy with being nodding dogs and yes men.

1000 percent agree.

A fundamental change in the terms and conditions.

Small claims hearing is non cost bearing for cases under £5000.

I’d love to know which terms and conditions you think they have changed?

Honestly, no one I know with a season ticket thinks this is a big deal.

If there are any hold ups tomorrow, it’s far more likely to be because the club haven’t advertised not putting the cards in the reader and just tapping on top.

''Honestly, no one I know with a season ticket thinks this is a big deal.''
Must be a generational thing, there is a few that I know that do.

So, two of the three cards have just arrived. Hopefully the third comes in the morning. Why was this not implemented far enough ahead to avoid all this fkwittery.

Ours didn't turn up and didn't want to chance relying on tomorrows post so got a couple of paper tickets from the office

I'm trying to manage the situation from abroad so I was hoping to avoid a ticket office trip.

The ability to transfer tickets without physically meeting is an advantage for anyone who doesn’t live in the same house never mind the same postcode area. If they have the tech obviously. If they don’t they are no worse off so long as we offer a card too.

And it is notable that every person on here who has said this new option will suit them better has been clear that they think there should be choice. The only ones who wish to deny that choice are some of its opponents.

A choice is clearly the best option for fans. If it was just my own ticket I'd be happy with a digital one. I've got a digital season card for Al Nassr and I use an app for buying and showing Al Hilal tickets. Al Shabab is digital too with a downloaded pdf ticket via email. The last WC was all digital and that worked very well, particularly for buying and selling tickets at the last minute.

But, the current Boro system doesn't allow for switching one adult and two child tickets from one adults phone to another. If they can make that a feature then I'd happily accept digital cards. Even then, I'd want others to retain the option of not being forced to use a phone.

I was in support of the *option* to have a digital card, but have today (one day before the season starts) been informed that tickets in my section of the ground are now not transferable/forwardable so I cannot pass it on to a family member (who lives closer to the Riverside) when I cannot attend.

If this remains the case it simply won’t make sense for me to continue with a season ticket, I’ll just pay match-by-match for the weeks I can make it. Massive own goal by the club, can’t imagine I’m the only one in this position.
